It’s a decent knock off in appearance, function is mediocre
The media could not be loaded. So this is an initial review from immediate impressions after unboxing. I will update this after some field use.First, it looks similar to the EOTech product it replicates. I personally own a couple real Eotech products, including the xps2 with G33 magnifier. EOTech even has a disclaimer at the top of its website these days on how to spot fakes they have been so heavily copied. Knowing the real thing, it’s not hard to tell. The battery door is different and the knock offs lack a certain quality seen on the real ones. The average idiot at a gun range probably won’t know the difference. Anyone who owns and uses real one would know from a few feet away. Even when they copy the logo. So, aesthetics aside let’s move to function.First, the battery setup is rather poorly designed. They literally shrink wrap two LR44 watch type batteries and provide two of the shrink wrapped assemblies. This doesn’t really save any space and I’d much rather see it use a standard lithium CR123. They claim it saves space for iron sights, I see no space saved. Getting the batteries into the unit is a pain. They fall in sideways and you have to remove them and do it again. The structure for these “watch” batteries is more complicated than the real one where you simply open a round cover with a coin and make a fast swap. Polarity is difficult to see as it is just a tiny + or - molded into the unit of the same color black. I fumbled them around several times before I finally saw it.The instructions are terrible. They aren’t even really instructions, it’s more like a brochure listing selling features or telling you why it’s a better design than others. The exploded diagram is about the extent of “instruction” there is. (In included photo)Now after 20 minutes fumbling with the batteries and about the return it as dysfunctional, it finally worked and turned on. (If this was for self defense in a hurry to change dead batteries you’d be toast) The sight rings appeared pretty solid in the house. The green one has some ghosting in at as pictured. The red one was pretty clear. For a brief moment I was nearly impressed. Then I walked outside and the real issue becomes glaringly obvious. In bright light on a white or reflective type surface the reticle disappears completely. The red is gone, you can’t see it at all. The green is slightly better, but also not really visible. I attached a video showing how bad this really is. Maybe as long as you only shoot at darker objects it would be fine. Not for self defense ever though in my opinion. I realize not everyone can spend the $1000+ on the real one, but you’d be better served with a decent $100 red dot than this for personal protection period.I also have the knockoff Acog and the real one. There’s no comparison between those as it suffers from a lack of tritium in the tube and the red reticle disappears in dark conditions. This would be a the opposite with this unit. So you need to determine where you’ll use it and the lighting conditions that are most likely to be present. If you want both conditions in one, again go with a decent quality red dot.Once I have had time to field test this stuff at a range I’ll update the review. At this time I’ll give it 3 stars mainly due to the washout issues. Whether it will hold zero will take time to determine.
