This is a great product, it's fun interactive and engaging for kids. It says 3+ and it really helps above this age group. Primary school children can use this independently and widen spellings.

I'm a big advocate of introducing young children to spelling toys as I remember growing up with my 'speak and spell' back in the day and it really helped me with spelling at school.This set by little tikes contains the Spell & Spin Pencil and a 100 words notebook with the aim being for your child to find and identify the words and spell them on the pencil. To hear the word spoken they simply press the tip of the pencil, which helps them to hear the correct pronunciation.The actual pencil is quite chunky for very small hands and younger children may find it a little tricky turning the letters, but other than that it is a well-made, colourful and quality item.My boys are 3yrs and they don't quite sit and use it properly unless either me or their father sits with them and goes through the words in the book step by step. I still think word games are definitely the best way to allow youngsters to familiarise themselves with words and spelling, so for that reason alone, I'd be happy to give this the 5 star treatment :)

That's a great and educational toy .The set contains a robust pen and a book with 100 words.This is super helpful for young children to teach them spelling and prepare them for school.The pencil have letters all over and a rotating system which allows the children to match the words after that it says and spells the word.Also I found it super helpful for kids who's first language is not English as it teaches them english in a fun way because it has the mechanism if the word is correct it will say it, if not it will play a sound which a fun learning way which will enhance children confidence and encourage them to repeat and learn.

It’s ok toy but kids get bored with it not the best learning toy

This is quite a nicely made and robust educational toy. The package comprises the main spelling pencil and a word book. In the book, there are over 100 words for your child to learn. For each word, there is a picture with the word underneath. The word is written on a picture of the pencil so children associate the pencil with the word. Vowels are indicated by being written in red. Choose a word in the book and then spell it out on the spell and spin pencil. You can then press the point of the pencil to hear the letters and words read out. The high pitched American voice is a bit jarring, but this is par for the course with these types of toys. It requires 2 x AA batteries, which are included in the toy. The item is nicely packaged and would certainly make a nice, educational gift for a young child. Happy to recommend this.

The learning book contains 100 words and it is great for little ones start learning and speaking. The learning pencil have a rotating mechanism, when you rotate and match the word and press the tip of the pencil, the pencil will spell and speak the word. The pencil's is easy to operate for a 3 year old and it helps to develop their brain and hands cooperation.

This Little Tikes educational toy is lovely. It’s well made and durable.The letters are easy to turn on the pencil. Great for spelling.It comes with batteries.Arrived well packed, it would also make a nice gift.
