A great controller, but do your research.
I'm new to mobile gaming. Overall I like this controller. I would consider my hands to be large(ish) and it fits well. It's obviously small compared to a real controller, so it feels weird at first. I have two FYI to share.FYI #1:The first thing I noticed is regardless of black or white color the GEN 2 with USB-C are configured for Playstation. I give Amazon credit because the fine print states this, but the white controller shows the PS button layout and the black controller shows the X-Box layout. The X-box configuration will probably work if you are using their play pass, but games through the Android play store might be designed for the Playstation layout. You can't adjust this unless you have the iPhone version, which isn't USB-C for the GEN 2. The current game I'm playing through the Play Store is set up for X-box controlls. It gets confusing, but I'm familiar with controllers on both platforms so I can figure it out.FYI #2This is basically regarding the capacity of this controller. I have a Galaxy S 23 Ulra. Without a case there is a little room to fit the controller. With a slim case I am pushing the limits; it takes a full extention of the controller to make it fit. Anything larger won't work for the GEN 2. You'll probably need the Pro.Overall, this is a sturdy little device and I like it. I recommend doing an online search to see what other people are saying based on the platform you intend to use it with. The black USB-C definitely isn't mapped for games that aren't designed specifically for X-box.

Great for on-the-go play while the kids play
Having two young kids makes it hard to find time to get any gaming in. The Backbone lets me take my games with me while we are out doing their activities. Kids are in their dance class? Perfect time to play a bit while in the waiting room. Piano lessons? 30 minutes of me time. The build quality and ergonomics feel great. The telescopic support lets it conform to any phone size and keeps a pretty tight grip on my phone. Have not had a chance to extensively try out the wireless controller feature but works pretty well and seamlessly. One thing to note in case it was not abundantly clear, it will not work with bulky phone cases. Do not have a slim profile case to test against so can only say that about the larger ones like the Otterbox Defender and other similar cases.

Absolutely Game-Changing!
The Backbone Pro is hands-down the best mobile gaming controller I’ve ever used. From the moment I snapped my phone in, everything just felt right. The build quality is solid and premium, with responsive buttons, smooth analog sticks, and a comfortable grip that makes longer sessions a breeze. What really sets it apart is the low-latency connection and pass-through charging — no lag, no battery anxiety. Plus, the Backbone app ties everything together beautifully, giving me instant access to my games, friends, and even streaming capabilities.Whether I’m playing Call of Duty Mobile, streaming from my console, or using Remote Play, this controller delivers a console-like experience on the go. If you’re serious about mobile gaming, this is the controller to get. Worth every penny.

My experience
This is a hit or miss. Its great to be able to play in an airport or somewhere not at home. I noticed quickly that the controller is very very different than a standard ps5 controller. For some this doesnt matter much but for those that are sensitive to layouts and feel such as myself it was pretty disheartening. I was able to play but every move I made i was having to question my movements as the button spacing and general feel was so off. Ive read some compare this to the Playstation portal and sadly its not. The portal is big but has a familiar and comfortable feel to a standard ps5 controller. Aside from. That I did have to remove my phone case as my charging port has a flap that interferes woth connectivity. No fault of backbone but something to note. On the plus size integration and user interface is nice. Very seamless and easy to use.
