My $120 GE Microwave model JES1072SH2SS decided to spark and try to catch fire while warming leftovers. The unit was just over two years old and used lightly in a single person household. I thought I would have to pitch it and buy a new one but then stumbled on some information and videos that suggested it might just be the waveguide cover. For $5 it was worth a try.I purchased this item (5 pieces) because it most closely matched the size of the one on my microwave and figured I could trim it if necessary and cut out the small hole where the plastic button was inserted on mine.I ordered this on the 6th and it arrived on the 11th. Upon receipt I found this waveguide cover was an exact match (with the exception of the hole) so figured why not and just slid it into place without worrying about that plastic button.While it has only been about a week and I have been keeping a close watch on the microwave while in use, it seems to be working just fine now. I will update my review if it fails.As an aside, while GE brand-name integrity seems to be a relic of the past (and I won't be purchasing GE products in future), I am thankful to the folks who suggested this solution and as well to the folks selling this item. My checkbook is thankful too.

My GE built in 2.2 cb sq ft profile microwave started sparking and smoking from behind the Mica plate. I called GE support and they offed a discount on a new microwave, still costing about $500.After a a little digging I ran across these for about $5. My 10 yr old made the custom holes and installed it. The repair worked like a charm.

Had to cut the item to make it fit.

Don't need to go to microwave college to use this product.

Fit without any modifications. Microwave was up and working in less than 5 minutes. Saved $$$$$

Thought our microwave was done. Spent a couple hundred on it a couple years ago, opting for a 'fancy' model instead of the sub $80 units, I was disappointed to hear and see sparks flying all around the insides of my microwave.After a little research and googling, I learned that these MICA based sheets are used to protect the magnetron device from food splatter and spray. So, found these mica replacement sheets. I had to trace out my old one to get a good fit, but it's working perfectly again! My wife is impressed with my microwave repair prowess! LOL! A few bucks vs. a few hundred---I can't complain. Highly recommend.
