Q: Has anyone tried using this to charge 21700 batteries ?

I have not tried charging that kind of battery.

Q: I see its not listed but wondering if this will charge 21700 batterys safely as well?

YES. They just barely fit. I've charged my 21700s for years without incident, however there is some small denting on the bottom of my batteries from the charger.

Q: This appears to be an obsolete 2014 version, and the improved 2016 version is available, and cheaper. Is this an old model or the newest available?

We have the older version, but it appears that both versions are available on Amazon. You can buy the old version for $23.35 and the new version for $22.95.
