Excellent scribe
Excellent woodworking scribe. Yes, I'll use it as a utility blade once in a while, but the main purpose is the precise scribe line.I thought the curvature might make a 4' scribe line more comfortable, and it does. In addition, the curvature adds an organic element that my hand prefers on a reach.Japanese tool steel. Razor sharpened. Delivers a wonderful thin scribe line out of the package. The steel will hold the same edge through many resharpenings.Better than expected.

Incredibly sharp!
Insanely sharp! Seriously. I have never had anything this sharp in my hands before, it really is incredible. However, I must say that the sheath it comes with is made from a flimsy, transparent, plastic (last pic). This knife would cut through in a split second, no pun intended… Plus being so flimsy it sticks together, and being transparent… anyway, you get the idea: putting it back on can be a bit tricky, to say the least. In reality, it’s just plain dangerous. Again, this knife is sharper that a razor, and any miss would result in predictably painful consequences. So, as you can see in the photos, I made a hard cap for it using my 3D printer. File is available on Thingiverse. Search for "Kiridashi cap"In no way a diss to the knife itself (quite the contrary if you think about it) and by no means a reason not to buy it. Just be warned.I myself am planning on buying the other available models just because I can’t believe the quality for the price, and you never have enough knives anyway… Am I right?

It's a wood carving knife. Who knew?
I did not know that, my fault, I guess. It is extremely sharp. I kept it because it's cool, but I can't imagine ever needing it.

Just buy it
I don't write reviews, but this item was so exceptional I felt compelled. I have a lot of tools, and I make a lot of things, but I have NEVER experienced a tool that was this enjoyable to use. This thing strips through wood like a peeler skins a potato. It's almost scary how easily the blade moves through the wood (like, this would for sure take a finger off if you were careless). The thickness and curvature of the steel feels great in the hand (I have 'averaged' size hands, so if you've got big 'ol bear paws get a wider blade). Sharpens very easily (due to the blade shape and grind) with a whetstone. This one is a "buy it for life", folks. 10/10. If you do any kind of wood working at all, do yourself a favor and spend $20 on this blade. You will not regret it.

Useful, Multipurpose, Good Looking...
Ordered this for a specific use, marking wood for the saw, and have found it useful for many other things not related to woodworking (like precise paper cutting and sharpening pencils for example). So useful. Much more comfortable to use than the standard "hobby knife". Can sharpen and reuse so no used blades to deal with. Plus, it looks good! Recommend keeping this oiled to prevent rust. Comes already sharpened so be careful. I bought the one with the curved handle and have found it more comfortable, with greater control and leverage. This is strictly a matter of taste however.

Comes sharp doesn't stay sharp

Incredibly sharp a great marking knife
This kiridashsi knife is incredibly sharp and makes an excellent marking knife. The only very minor drawback is that I wish the handle was a bit thicker making it easier to hold on to. It is easy to use, sharpen and the fact that it comes in a right and left hand version greatly improves its accuracy. It is an excellent tool and value for your money.
