Very good. Pieces, although not perfectly simmetrical and with minor imperfections between white and black, are carved out of wood, look fairly well and give the feel of classical chess pieces. The board is made of wood itself but with some sort of plastic/picture with the squares and notation which is about what you can expect for the price range. Also, it's very portable and has a decent size (smaller than tournament but big enough for casual play).

Very nice chess set. Bought it for my 11 year old. The pieces are a nice weight. The magnetic board is very nice. Good quality for the price.

The board is very well made with a very smooth surface while the chess pool pieces have enough magnet on them. The total weight of the board is very ideal for travelling. The maker was very thoughtful to add an extra Queen and the board is labelled for the players convenience. This is very worth the price I paid with a discount during the Amazon Prime days. I think it's still worthy of it's full retail price.

I read some negative reviews regarding this chess set but I took a chance. I found the set to be a good value for the money. The board was decently made, the pieces clean and finished and had a nice look and feel. The magnets stuck well enough to hold the pieces. The foam packing for the pieces held them in place nicely. All in all, I found this to be a nice chess set and a good value for the money. It's not a 'premium' set but it's decent quality. It's a little large for travel but large enough to be comfortable to play.

There are many chess sets to choose from and this one was a good choice for our first set.. The magnetic feature is good. No more bumping the board and dislodging the pieces. Getting extra Queen pieces was a nice touch. Also having a board with numbers & letters to designate each square helps us beginners to learn notation and follow moves from a training book.

I found this for my Dad. He thought only small travel kits were available. I showed him the photo of the set. I told him that he wouldn’t like the little ones because his hands are too large for those little pieces. WE ORDERED THIS 15 INCH BY 15 INCH SET. HE. LOVES IT! It’s small enough for his lap, and large enough for his hands. My 96-year-old dad called me to say, “It’s beautiful!” I know this is TMI, but when Dad’s happy; I am.

The chess set has actually exceeded my expectations and I can recommend it to all. It is very well made from real wood, good quality, the magnetic bottoms are just strong enough to keep it stable but not too strong. The files and ranks are marked. One black and one white extra queen is also included.I also want to give a special recognition to LuckyWish seller for outstanding communication and service to resolve any issue.

Other reviewers are right; this is indeed a great set. I bought a different one recently where the pieces were strongly magnetized and the board wasn't (think all pieces clumping together instead of staying on squares) so I was worried, but needn't have been. If you take it out of the box that says "Made in China" no one would ever know it was., if that's something that matters to you. The magnets are strong enough to keep pieces in place at all board angles, but not too strong to inhibit moving pieces easily. One of my best recent purchases.
