EL84 STR Premium Selected Vacuum Tube, Matched Pair

This may only be a coincidence - but either way, I thought it was pretty cool: After playing 90 seconds worth of power chords through these, my amp popped the little fuse that's near the a/c input jack. A total "Tenacious D" moment! I just had to make a quick run to Radio Shack (thank heavens we still have a couple around here). $2.99 for a pack of 4. Was bound to happen sooner or later. ... Anyway, I'll skip the totally subjective mumbo jumbo about overtones etc. - All that matters is that they work & aren't noisy.

I bought the matched pair of these to go in my Guitar Amp. I purchased them and did not get around to installing them until July of 2020 (Bought in Feb. and was running fine with the existing power tubes.) As soon as I powered on the amp, an incredible hum and hiss, and a fuse popped on my amp. I took it to a repair shop and they went through the amp, and said there was a plate voltage leak due to a faulty power tube (Products Reviewed.)So I contact the seller and say, hey, I know this is past the Amazon purchase return date, but I seriously have 0 minutes on these tubes, there was a problem when I installed them a few weeks ago, can you just send me a pair of tubes that work?Response- Sorry charlie your past the return policy.... Bottom line, don't buy from these guys. Gone are the days of business done the right way.

The online hype about “TAD dude!” is ridiculous, so I had to try them. They turn out to just be ordinary Chinese tubes (Shuguang?) that are run through a simple tester, labeled and packaged and sold at 10x the price. Nice business, but the ones I received were microphonic as all get-out. Playing the amp was like a full set of sleigh bells jingling. They did fully refund the money though when they received them so all good.

Great sounding tubes, better than anything I’ve tried in my Vox AC15 - loud, colorful presence; clear and bright but not glassy or piercing; and warm smooth breakup when overdriven... very “vintage” sounding- highly recommend for any Brit configured amp.

Very nice tubes and vintage tone type. I run them in a Maz 38 SR and the work perfect. The driven tone I get from it is very Wide Open, not compressed in any way. Very deep and round sound.

Pins on all four were bent to hell. Thats sloppy guys. One of the quartet red plated bad enouph to burn up the label on the side. Not being able to get decent new manufactured tubes is getting old. There made by someone else to there specs, TAD suposedly culls them for the best ones. Not sure what there method is for doing that but its obviously either a crap process or in reality none at all. Just stop trying to make tubes. Please! Id almost rather there be nothing but old stock than this crap shoot nonsense and feeling like i got duped. Do i now take the time to package this one up and send it back, risk buying another set and/or just have three tubes sitting on a shelf that do me no good as i need a quartet? Either way i guess forking over the money for n.o.s. is still the more economic option.
