Expensive But Worth It
The media could not be loaded. First off, I purchased this with my own money so this review is my honest opinion 😘 Pricey, but worth the splurge. I've had this for a few weeks now and what I can say is this: I use it everyday, all day.True, you can just keep using your kindle if you have one (which I do), however-- there are many reasons for me and others as to why I've searched for a kindle alternative. While I still use the kindle app on my Boox Palma, I love that I can read manga/webtoons/manhwa/alternative reading platforms. My reading isnt limited to kindle alone, and that's a huge benefit for me.Additionally, customization. I love that I can outwardly customize my Boox Palma as well as internally. This is not the case with kindle unless you pay over $20 to prevent ads showcasing on the escreen-- something that has caused quite a few dramatic and embarrassing moments for me 😤 and never appreciated. Likewise, I've already noticed the updated policies from kindle taking books off of my kindle-- not cool. So, again, Boox Palma has been a great alternative. Yes, I understand that there is also kobo and many people enjoy that as well, however, again, you can also have kobo on your boox palma! One more thing to note is that the Boox Palma is WAY more travel friendly. I have 2 young children and have moved on from shoulder bags to mini backpacks, and let me just say-- the boox palma fits so easily, but my kindle causes some issues. Having to choose between the 2? 100% I'm taking my boox palma. On top of that, the boox palma fits way better in my hands (first world problems, I know). The kindle tends to cramp my hands up and idk, with the twisting and turning while reading.. I prefer the boox palma. The button option to turn pages is so convenient too, as well as the fingerprint reader.Minor inconveniences-- while I have so much that I enjoy about the Boox Palma, I will also add that there are some (potential) drawbacks depending on person to person. For example:1. Battery life- the battery life can EASILY drain if you keep it connected to Bluetooth, wifi, and heavy app use. Turning off wifi and Bluetooth easily allows battery life to last (from my heavy consistent use) 8 days before needing a recharge. For others it can be longer or shorter, just depends on the person.2. Dark Mode-- I have to read in dark mode, especially at night. My eyes do not so well with warm light or bright white light at all. I get migraines really bad and to be honest, my kindle was perfect for that, especially night reading. I will honestly choose the kindle or at home night reading over the boox palma.3. Learning curve. There is a bit of a learning curve to the boox palma, but tbh that's because of the ability to customize to your liking as well as adding apps to enhance the reading experience. Finding out how to navigate takes a little time, but if you love tinkering there's really no issue after a few minutes on google/YouTube/reddit/tiktok searches.4. Refresh rates can be an issue-- BUT only IF you absolutely refuse to tinker with your device. Again, after a few minutes of changing settings to my own liking in each app either for webtoons, epubs, pdfs, or kindle~ it runs very smoothly. The processing time (at least for me) is a lot quicker than my kindle which was so frustrating I always end up purchasing my books on my phone and then downloading on kindle.Overall, this is a great addition to my everyday life as well as school for textbook notes and reading. Worth the purchase if you can splurge. The quality of the build is also premium 👌 10/10

A good addition to the boox family
I'll preface this by stating that my wife and I own a few other Boox devices that have been awesome such as the Go Color 7, the Tab Ultra C Pro, and the Air3 C. The Palma was a fantastic addition to the lineup and all together great alternative if you don't want to take a tablet with you but still want to get some reading done and avoid eye strain. Its crisp, has a snappy response, and does most things a phone would do minus having a sim card slot.

Build better habits
Fit my use case perfectly. My expectation of this device was not to replace my cell phone, only to give me an alternative device to carry around the house and discourage doomscrolling. While at home I can still use whatsapp in case my wife needs to message me.Since it works best as an ereader, that's mostly what I use it for. I am a slow reader but I have still been averaging 30+ pages per day over the last couple months. This is a huge improvement for me. With my use as an ereader and occasionally using it to read an article online, the battery lasts me about 5 days. No problems with durability yet after a few short drops but I've had a case and screen protector on since day 1.This will not replace your phone but it is a great device to help change your habits.

Wtf
Screen broke within 30 days, device was in case, barely used. Boox boasts anti scratch, it’s lying and stealing and I will not support a company doing that. Unfortunate because the size, e ink, customizability, and ability to use different apps and other features made this highly desirable. It would disconnect from hotspot every time the screen locked, it is also glitchy and fuzzy. They either need to fix all problems or market the device for 1/4 the cost. Now I’ve wasted money on clear case, crotchet case, and screen protector. I might try a black one since I heard most problems are with the white model and I’m already ~$60 deep in accessories, plus it’s prime day, again can’t really justify the purchase of down grading to a color I don’t want to accommodate Boox’s subpar bs

I wanted to love it, but just liked it and returned it in the end.
it’s a fine product and delivered on what it advertised. In the end, I just didn’t find I enjoyed using it as much as I had hoped I would and the lagginess of the screen is a pain in practice when trying to do anything but look at static text on it. I liked the idea of eink for my eyes but find using my iPhone just more practical and always on me anyway. It’s to much money for something no one needs but I applaud the effort to innovate in this space and the combo of eink and Android worked pretty well other than the laggy interface.
