Brilliant! In more ways than one!
Flashlights have been evolving fast since white LED technology came along, quite some time ago. This means an incredible variety of styles and features has been producing clever new models for decades now. For a supposedly new design to stand out -- well, that's become a tall order. Wuben has designed some interesting models, most of which have at least one innovative feature that helps differentiate them in a field crowded with competition. But the X4 is a stand-out among standouts. The feature set, the user interface, the build quality, and the performance are all way above average, and taken together they make the X4 closer to perfection than anything else on the market. The features are well presented all over Amazon and YouTube, but with all the fawning, self-promoting quickie would-be influencers calling every model from every brand the latest and greatest, it's hard to tell one pocket-sized model from another -- at least not where it counts. To me, what counts, like I said, are the features, ease of use, build, and performance. So let's just get this one thing straight -- the X4 is the best I've seen in all 4 categories. At 1500 lumens it's far brighter than most, and doesn't exceed all practicality by being so bright it burns your hand and kills the huge 18650 battery in a minute or two. I don't need 4000 lumens in an EDC light. But I do need soft general illumination, provided by the side array of white LEDs behind a white diffuser, and I do (rarely) need a flashing red/blue alert light that I can stick magnetically on the side of my car when something goes wrong at night. The X4 features are all practical capabilities that I'll actually use, and the way you get to them is a brilliant application of one slider and one wheel/button. Even the latch on the battery cover is clever and foolproof. This light is as good as it gets in the pocket-sized multi-function EDC category. Read no further. Buy one. I bought three more for some friends. This one is for the record books.

Cool flashlight with a slight flaw on magnetic base
I've been a fan of wuben stuff for a while (probably the first one was the Wuben X-0). The X4 is a good addition to that line. Feels very solid, easy to use, has some interesting features. I appreciate the thumb wheel to adjust brightness and the sliding switch that sets the function. The tail switch is a nice addition, but leads to the flaw with the magnetic base... the tail switch button means the whole base isn't magnetic, so while the flashlight will hang from it's magnet, it will not stay on a vertical surface (it slides down). Not a huge deal, but does make it so I can't just slap it on a metal surface for storage. lol. Hat clip is nice. weight is nice. I saw one review about the battery cover latch being plastic, and that does seem like it could be a failure point. But overall, the flashlight seems quite nice and a worthy addition to their lineup.

Small but mighty. Great edc.
My work sends me into a lot of strange places. Sometimes, with absolutely no light. Basic flashlights don't cut it. My super strong flashlight that could light up a football field, is a bit big and heavy to carry everywhere. This little flashlight is perfect. I love the locking switch. I love the 2 way light. I love that its magnetic. I love that the light is adjustable with a quick and easy scroll wheel. I love that it's rechargeable. Can charge it up quick in the truck if needed. Very very bright. Great battery life. Locks, so no accidental button press in my pocket wasting battery. On off... no cycling through on, strobe, strobe a different speed etc, off. Literally everything about this light is great for work in dark conditions. Size is perfect for edc. Negatives... if you can call them that... I wish it came with a sheeth/case. It can get hot. But cools very quick. And only the light end gets hot, not where you hold it.

Brilliant. I got it cos I work a lot of live music events, both in theatre and in fields, and there's a bunch of functionality that suit it super well. The main beam on high power mode is hectic bright. Excellent for spotting stuff up in the grids in a theatre, or pointing out something a *decent* way away in a paddock, even if there's a bunch of other lights & stuff happening. You can dial that down, so you're not nuking your eyeballs back at camp, or while you're digging around in a pile of cables backstage. There's a couple of different strobe modes, both plain white (and bright!) and coloured (which is not as bright) so you can be spotted easily if you're trying to flag someone down or get someone's attention. The full bright flash is pretty disorienting if it's beamed into your face & is easily accessible, if that's something that'd be handy in your role - I hear that seccies like that kind of thing. There's also both a warm white and coloured little cob side light, which is pretty good for a little nice glow somewhere, or to highlight an area, or if you're trying to get your boots on at oh-dark-thirty to go to the loo. There's a USB-C port hidden under the sliding switch, and it takes a single 18650 battery (that the usb port recharges). I haven't tested how long it lasts, but I've not been left wanting thus far, especially if I can top it off during the day. I find it pretty easy to carry a couple of spare charged 18650's (thanks, vaping!) and I reckon I'd easily get a solid week plus out of the three if I went out fully charged and didn't go bananas with spotlighting everything all the time. All this is done with a sliding 4 position switch, a button, and a dial/rotary encoder, so it takes some learning & playing with to be able to get to the lighting mode that you're looking for without accidentally switching the sun on or strobing yourself in the face, and the wrist strap it comes with doesn't seem to really have any good attachment points apart from the belt clip, but they're the only negatives I can think of, and they're pretty minor. It does get a bit warm, I guess... And I tried putting a blue gel on it but it melted it (but like, it wasn't heat from the torch that melted it where it was taped on or anything - it was from the light itself? Very weird, neither of the techs I showed it to had seen it before.)

This is a good example of you get what you pay for. I've tried many types of high power flashlights and Wuben is now my go to for a flashlight. The quality, control and of course brightness are all amazing for the X4 model. I also have a G5 pocket pocket style and was very pleased with that as well so that's why I tried this one. I live on a rural county property and need a bright flashlight. I especially like the quite bright side lantern option which like the main light is fully dimmable. If your willing to spend a few bucks you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic little flashlight with multiple modes. Controls/operating modes are consistent with other flashlights from this company. I don't think I can link a YouTube video but there's a very good review online out there with brightness/range graphs over time which isn't a paid review (like so many others) The flashlight can do 1500 lumens for short bursts and then drops down to just under 500 lumens for longer periods. You can make it go brighter again by turning the dial down and up, but it can get quite hot if you do. Battery life is really good and the different modes seem very useful. Definitely not the best but looks cool and for the price it's a fun little device.
