The Complete Guide to Surfcasting

Very informative book from everything to weather types of fishing rigs to use what baits to use how to read the surf and how to fish on jetties and Pierce just wish it would have had something on different types of casting

This is OK and has some good information but it looks cheap! Poor quality black and white photos really make it feel shabby.

It was well written, entertaining, and extremely helpful for those of us that never surf fished before. The only thing I was hoping for, was more info on hook sizes for different baits... But will definitely follow this author.

This is a well written and overall thoroghly researched introduction to the bauty and how-to's of fishing in the surf. The chapeters concerning the upper east coast and mid atlantic coast are very definitive, but the chapters on the Gulf Coast are much less detailed. Being from Texas, I would have appreciated more detail here. It is understandable because the author is from the East Coast and assuredly more knowedgeable about that region. If he were to spend more time along the Louisiana/Texas/Mexican Gulf Coast and write that book, I would buy it too. Hopefully by that time I will know much more from my own expereinces.

I have bought all kinds of books trying to find a helpful intro guide to surf casting, that while written for beginners, was more than just a review of certain lures or to vague to be useful. I live in NJ (have for several years), but not next to the coast, so finding out about surf fishing has been harder than I thought. THIS IS THE BOOK TO START WITH!! The author provides a thorough, easy to understand overview, with enough background on the key elements to be useful. In particular, the chapters about weather, wind, tides, and pressure was staight forward and insighful - just want I needed. If you are relatively new to the sport, or never learned the basics, this is the book for you.
