Mr. Men: My Complete Collection Paperback – 1 Mar. 2010

Lots of people my age will have grown up with the Mr Men.Lots of people my age will have kids of their own.Lots of people my age are probably thinking "if it was good enough for me as a child then it's certainly good enough for my kids". Certainly that's my thinking. I had a few of the books. I loved them. I have fond memories of my mum and dad reading them to me. Now that I've got children, I can't wait to do the same. The stories are timeless and, more often, than not carry a good message. The illustrations are simple and accessible. But you probably know all of this.What about this particular box-set then. It's expensive. Eye-wateringly expensive really. 100quid! For some children's books! BUt there are 47 books in total, covering all of the Mr Men (but not the Little Miss series). Per-book then, the cost works out at about £2.13 per book. And that's not including the nifty box to keep them all in.The box is a double-walled cardboard affair, about the same size as a shoe-box. Not quite like the one pictured in the photo on the amazon product page which looks more like it's made out of thick plastic. It does a good job of holding the books in place and would sit nicely on a bookshelf, with the lid on or off. With the lid off, the books are in sequence and stacked neatly so that images on the spines combine to spell out "my Mr Men Library" in a kind of scrawled handwriting. A cute touch.It still seems expensive, so a quick look on Amazon revealed that, if you bought them individually, the books will set you back about £2.50 each. Another case where buying in bulk saves you a bit and, in this case, gets you a presentation box too. There are other box-sets and collectors editions available, including one of "all 50 books" (not sure what the extra 3 are), which looks like it went out of print a while ago, but it's available for less than half the price of this one...At the end of the day you pays your money and you makes your choice. I'm delighted with this box set and am sure that it will get plenty of use over the coming years. Come on, it's the Mr Men. What's not to like?

I love the Mr Men books and wanted it to buy it as a gift for a friend's son. Found this collection and it seemed to be good value with all the main character books included which is always great as some books become favourites and enough variety to keep re-reading over and over for years to come. It comes in a nice character box to keep everything contained and stored away and arrived in great condition

I bought this as a christening present and everyone involved was thrilled with it. The box set arrived quickly and very well wrapped in what was a very generous amount of bubble wrap so no chance of any dents in the box (unlike other reviewers). Young William is only 6 months old so I don't know what he will make of these books but his Mum and Dad were really pleased. Everyone loves the Mr Men and I think these books will get a lot of use.

I'm french and my daughters already liked "Monsieur Madame", the french version.So i thought it would be interesting to have some Mr Men books in english to teach them some vocabulary.I came across this nice package and glad i buy it.It's very nice to have all these for bed time story.Special mention to Mr Dizzy, the first one i had (a long time ago). Mr Nigaud en français.

This was ordered as a Christmas present for my 3 year old grand-daughter - already an avid reader - mostly via stories read by parents or grandparents. Daddy particularly requested these on her behalf - not least because he remembers my reading them to him and his siblings when they were little. Delivery was fast and books arrived in good condition - everyone well pleased. Thank you

I know it has a pricey price tag, but this was a must have collection to buy for my daughter who has the little miss collection. It comes in a lovely box and has all the classics I remember as a child with some new characters as well.It arrived well packaged with no damage to the box.

This was a present for a 1-year-old grandson (his parents taking a long view...). They love it - it's all the original Mr Men books, and the Mr Men Library written across the spines enables/requires you to keep them in the right order. I'm sure the brat will love them eventually, too.

Delighted. It was a Christening present and I chose it so that the two older children in the family could share it with the baby.My 9 year old grand-daughter suggested this present and the baby's parents were so pleased to have something all three children could treasure.
