I wanted a box that played files off my NAS. That’s all. This is exactly what I needed. Easy to connect and auto scans folder you point it to for movies and files to play. I started renaming a bunch to fit what it’s looking for and it started getting posters and movie info. Really easy to be a player for backups of physical media. I also work in movie post production and wanted an easy way at to play back projects I worked on. This is also great for that. I can make really high bitrate files and it plays them back with ease. Anything that modern like h264 or h265 content is awesome. I have it set to pass audio through hdmi and that has worked perfectly. It’s an easy way to test atmos projects how they will be streamed.

This is the perfect solution for my home movie collection which sits on a 50TB NAS. Unlike my Amazon Fire cube or Roku while using Plex, the Zidoo grants me full Dolby Vision and full DTS sound tracts. As a standalone unit, it categorizes the movies just as good as Plex. I've plugged it into my HA (Home Assistant) automation setup as well as getting it working perfectly with my Harmony Elite remote. This is a great unit and I’m glad I found it. Now, I still run Plex for the "normal" TV setups around my house that still have Rokus and I dont need the full features of the Zidoo. The Zidoo is for use in my Home theater with a 7.1.4 atmos setup.

It is a good device. Somewhere between a 3-4 star really. It has a couple of major issues that are not clearly advertised: 1. It doesn’t always load or read NFOs for shows. From the forums, it seems an issue only with new TV shows loaded as a new library in HT5. Apparently, it is not an issue if you imported them from HT4 or use the older model. 2. It is generally very good in stability though it requires a reboot often. In 3 days and it needed a couple of reboots to reconnect to the AVR properly using CEC. Hopefully, it is a matter of it struggling during setup and getting it fully updated to the latest firmware, but it questions its long-term stability. I’d say it is a cool device to try new things, but unless an update improves things, it may not be a keeper if you prefer dealing with NFOs and TV shows. If you like movies and build your collection with it, it is just plain great at that.

Perfect. The reviews people leave for these devices about streaming Netflix, yeah that's not what this is. If you have a serious networked media collection on your home server this is what you need. I have a 9.4.4 system and three other zidoos throughout the house and these handle anything you throw at them. All my 4k rips are full bit rate, dolby atmos competely uncompressed files. No problems whatsoever. Highly recommend if that's what you're looking for.

Got this because I was having a glitch with my Apple TV playing my home media. I'm aware this device is supposed to supperior playback of high def videos but after some time spent configuring Plex on the device I wasn't satisfied with the setup in regard to having my home media available to me to use. The poster art and meta data were not in sync too many times for my liking. Apple TV, on the other hand, is just so easy and everything works perfectly. In the end, I got a second Apple TV to circumvent the isse I was having and I put the Zidoo device in storage.

So far this has been a great purchase. I had a Zappiti and if it had a problem hooking up to the internet, then you couldn't watch it. I have had no problem with the Zidoo because it doesn't use the internet for movie posters. O am very happy with this purchase and I would recommend it to anyone.

This purchase has been highly satisfactory, and I am eager to share my positive experience. For further information on setup and system functionality, I recommend consulting U Tube tutorials.

I really wanted to like this device. I have a Zidoo Z9X Pro and was very happy. I figured the 8K was a nice upgrade. The issues started right away. When playing back 4K, Dolby Vision files, the movies would regularly pause then resume. It was so frequent and annoying it made them unwatchable. I've contacted Zidoo customer service looking for some guidance, posted in the Zidoo forum and on Facebook. Unfortunately, no solution ever worked, but some others said they were having similar issues. Ultimately, I claimed a warranty issue. Zidoo said they would refund the device, but I have to pay for shipping back. Don't love that, but at least they're refunding me.

Je cherchais un petit appareil pouvant lire mes fichiers Remux 4k (jusqu'à 120 Go le film) , il fonctionne très bien, l'ergonomie est simple et semble complète , l'image magnifique. Pas de ralentissement sur l'interface pour un lire un dd externe de 4 To en USB A. Il faut juste que je trouve le moyen de le connecter en RJ45 sur un Terramaster D4-300 lui même connecté à une Freebox Delta. Partage samba effectué sur la box, mais je ne le vois toujours pas, sûrement une petite chose que j'ai mal fait :o) Conseillé à 100%

Ho aspettato prima di di fare questa recensione. Ero dubbioso su alcuni modelli e alla fine ho acquistato questo prodotto, che dire veramente una bomba . Processore di ultima generazione e 6 gb di ram , le apps si aprono immediatamente e la configurazione del prodotto è stato veloce e semplice. E un player che legge veramente di tutto, dai files grossi a codifiche particolari, legge tutto perfettamente e senza nessun scatto. A oggi penso che sia uno dei migliore player del 2025 quindi consiglio per chi vuole un Android che legga praticamente tutto. Consigliatissimo

Been using this for almost 3 weeks now, and I would say that I’m satisfied with it’s performance. The Tidal app has a bug but other than that this player is a beast!

Habe mich für mein Heimkino Setup für den Zidoo Z9X 8K entschieden, Qualitäts mäßig absoluter Hammer, UI gut zu bedienen einziges Manko beim ersten Setup verlor er die WLAN Verbindung und wollte diese nicht wieder herstellen trotz gutem WLAN Empfang ca 700mbps über Speedtest gemessen, NAS Verbindung wurde auch simpel direkt aufgebaut für meine Remux Movies bräuchte er ca für 70 Filme 3 min zum einlesen
