2 Pack Stainless Steel Smoker Box, for Use with Wood Chips to Add Smoky BBQ Flavor to Gas or Charcoal Grills

I have a covered flagstone patio and use my smoker and grill all year long. I have a gas grill for convenience but always use a smoker box for flavor. My favorite one was a similar rectangular stainless steel box I bought at the local hardware store. I have been using it for about 7 years and it's gotten pretty rusty as you can see in the picture. I have looked for another but the store I bought it at never stocked them again and I never found another like it at any other store. The only ones I found were cylindrical and quite flimsy. I ran across this listing and couldn't believe my luck! It looked just like the one I was looking for and there were two for about the same price point as I paid for one years ago. I was quite happy when I received them to find that they were almost identical and I now have a back up for when I wear the first one out in 5-6 years.

I always just wrapped some tinfoil into a shape that a pack of it would fit right onto my weber flavorizer bars. That worked well. This works, but not as well as the foil method (due to it not being able to be shaped to fit right on the flavorizer bar), but it is much easier to deal with. If I were to do it again, I’d get a metal box with a ^ shaped bottom so it fit onto the flavorizer bar. However, for others with different grills, a regular box may be the way to go. It still works fine, but it takes longer to get it smoking than when it’s shaped to the burning grill. Overall, the metal seems thick enough that it has held its shape after eating and the lid still closes.

I went to use our old smoke box this year and it was rusted beyond recognition. This was a great value! You get two, and what I really like is that the lid is attached and opens like a box does. My old one, the lid came off, and the older it got, the harder it became to close it.I have idea how durable these are. They don’t seem super sturdy, but we’ll see. The edges are a little sharp, so I would keep them away from kids.

This set of stainless steel smoker boxes is actually made out of very thin metal which is way thinner than my older box. Also they are way smaller in size and I would have to chop my wood chips way smaller than they are to fit my usual amount or just put way less wood chips overall. Good ting that you at least get two of them so I can set them on both sides of the smoker, but I expected a better quality.

Previously, I've been wrapping my wood chips in aluminum foil and place them on my grill. With this smoke box, I can now place my wood chips without suffocating it with foil. I feel like the thickness is adequate so it doesn't take too long for it to heat up without compromising the integrity of the box.
