I researched several litter box solutions before purchasing the Iris Top Entry Litter Box, Large, Black and Gray. I also went to several local stores and looked at options in person. I was just so tired of the daily mess my cat was making with her old litter box, I wanted to make sure I found one that worked well and prevented tracking litter everywhere. My cat is by far the messiest cat ever. She poops on the side of her box and sometimes over the side of the box onto the floor, and as if that wasn't bad enough, she will then not just scratch, but throw piles of litter over the edge tying to cover it up, stopping only once she has all but emptied 3 inches of cat litter from her box and slung it halfway across the room. She also has a habit of jumping over the edge of the box while running away as fast as she can while tracking litter the whole way through the house, and occasionally causes the entire litter box to flip over dumping all of the contents into the floor... Worst cat ever. After considering all different types, styles, shapes and sizes of litter boxes, I came back to this one. It seemed fit all my needs and I was hopeful it would eliminate the catastrophes mentioned above. After purchasing it was shipped via Amazon prime 2 day shipping and arrived right on time. It was quick and easy to set up and my cat started using it right away. It works well, looks great, and I couldn't be happier. I wish I had bought this top entry litter box a long time ago, it would have saved me a lot of headaches. No more cat poop over the edge in the floor, no more piles of litter in the floor, no tipping the whole box over, and since she has to kind of climb out and then down she can't really dart out of the box like her tail is on fire anymore. This litter box does a fantastic job at keeping the litter contained. Most of it gets left behind in the box and what little bit gets stuck in her paws gets wiped off in the grooves of the lid, which you can just dump back into the box when you take the lid off to clean it, which is also very easy to do. This top entry litter box has also been wonderful at keeping both my dog and my daughter from trying to get into it. The size is perfect for my cat, the color and style are nice and match with our trash can and cat and dog food containers, and the price is perfect when comparing other options. I would definitely recommend this litter box.

This litter box works great with wood pellet litter! My cats weigh about 15 lbs each and have no trouble getting in or out. We specifically chose this style to keep our Chihuahua out of the litter box — and it works perfectly. There’s very little litter tracked onto the floor, and cleaning it is quick and easy. The included scoop is sturdy and well-made. Highly recommend!

This was probably one of the best purchases I have made In. My. Entire. Life. To start, I felt the need to mention that I hardly leave typed reviews-- but this beauty box absolutely warranted one! I have three loving tomcats. Two are well above 13lbs, while the third is way smaller - I'd say about 5lbs. They all use one litter box. Now I know what you're thinking. "Three male cats using ONE litterbox?? INSANITY!!!" No, it's not nearly as bad as you think. But before I bought this, I had a traditional colossal-sized that had the side door. Nothing fancy, just huge. It came with one of those cheap doors, but they would not enter with it on. They just did not like it. I don't know why but every single time they used the box, they would jump out with litter dust too. It would be all over the bathroom floor. It happens so much that the handheld vaccum that I kept in there had to be replaced with an actual vaccum. I have OCD with compulsive cleaning, so I would vaccum multiple times a day. The thought of stepping on any litter bits sends in a spiral. But I'm not even halfway done. Whenever my fiancé would replace the litter, the boys will have a field day. Typical, right? However, my smallest cat...I swesr thst little guy has horse legs! Before he would go, he would kick and splash all inside the darn thing. And he would do it for almost an hour! Constantly digging as if it were some sort of game! You can hear the litter flying OUT of the box and smacking against the bathroom closet wall. Every. Time. And because of this, when they would go number #2, it would smell a billion times worse--because there would be little to zero litter to cover it! BECAUSE ITS ALL AGAINST THE WALL!!! It may sound silly but this was affecting not only me, but my fiance as he constantly had to make trips to get new litter. The crashing sound of fresh litter smacking the bathroom wall in the middle of the night. Me constantly vacuuming. Litter feet. Ugh. This is where our new savior was blessed upon us **WHERE THE ACTUAL REVIEW BEGINS** It is huge. PERFECT. I have three cats and two of them are very big boys. (two 1yr 15lbs each and one 7mo 5lb.) At first they were really skeptical of it's presence. What I had to do was to put a couple treats inside the box, without litter. I also put a couple toys inside, to show that this thing was completely harmless. It took a moment, but two of them were taking turns hopping in and out of it! Bliss! The third still was having trust issues, and refused to enter. So my fiance decided to put it to the true test and actually put litter in it. And to my surprise, they were trying to use it AS he were placing the litter inside! They jump through the hole with ease. The ridges on the lid help a ton with shaving off excess litter off their paws. (We cut their nails every 2 weeks so that'll help too.) And just incase we still have litter catch mats placed underneath. everything had been bliss since this purchase. Now there will be tiny bits of litter here and there on the main bathroom floor, but that's it. Nothing more! I've finally put away my large heavy duty vaccum as there is no need anymore. My little guy still has his litter-kicking-digging-splash fest, and every bit of it is contained. This box prevents splash 100%. And I have noticed that the smell has been covered better! The lock feature is so easy to use - just push the two side buttons in and lift the top. Easy!!!!! This litter box has saved my Mentality !! NO LITTER FEET!!! THANK YOU AMAZON

I have 2 of these litter boxes for my 3 cats. I went with a top entry because one of my cats would fling the litter all over the floor from the front entry box I had. The design on these works great. The cats climb out and walk across the lid catching the majority of the litter on their paws. Just put the entry point towards the wall so they don't jump out and not walk on the lid. It is a sturdy material. Make sure you put the lid on correctly or the cats will push the lid inside the box. The thing i am not a fan of is how hard it is to clean the pee off the side. The clumping litter sticks to the side pretty good. Maybe a better coating on the inside. All in all, it is a good value for the money and will keep your floor cleaner. It also is pretty stylish for a cat toilet. It worked well for me so I will recommend it. I hope that helps!

I wouldn't select this litter box for a cat who is very big (think Maine Coon), but for an average or smaller than average sized house cat the size is really great. We got this litterbox when our older cat was peeing on our bed. The vet said to try a different litter box before we moved on to meds for behaviors. This worked. Having the extra litter box, that also has a different entry point than the other one, has made a huge diffrence. It also scatters a little less litter than a standard box because the litter falls into the ridges at the top. It mostly holds the stink down, but it does take a minute or two longer to scoop since you have to take the lid off. The holder for the scoop won't stay in place, so we just used a different holder that is not hanging from the box. Our larger cats (Maine Coon mixes) wouldn't be able to use this box comfortably.

Such a great idea. I was afraid that my cat wasn’t going to use it since he’s afraid of everything and i’m surprisingly happy that he actually uses it! He’s seems to like it, more privacy. What I do love the most is that most of the liter does stay in the box, sometimes it does make it out since my cat hops out and the liter gets stuck to his paws but besides that it’s nice that there’s no chance for urine to come out. I do appreciate that the scooper is attached hanging on the side of the box cause it’s super convenient having it there oppose to having it somewhere else and it’s a hassle storing it. When cleaning, it’s pretty easy and efficient. I seem to have a easier time cleaning this style of box than others. Oh the appearance! I love that it’s so simple and doesn’t “look” like a typical cat liter box. Also the quality, super sturdy! I was worried about the weight on the lid. It actually holds up pretty well. Such a game changer.

I love my cats and hate cat poop. The smell the concept of turds in my house, all of it bad. This box is deep and has a lid to prevent tracking litter. Also the top have grooves to help shake the litter from the little terrors claws

This purchase is a replacement after 3 years, just needed to be replaced. This design was made much cheaper the lid design was changed and the lid is NOT secure on the pan. Our cat has fallen into the box several times and I just do not know how to fix the design flaw. I recommend the manufacture and seller to revert back to the previously design of the lid locking design for the safety of the cats.
