Jonty Gentoo: The Adventures of a Penguin

The Gruffalo was one of my favorite stories as a child and I had never read Jonty Gentoo till I got a copy for my child and I am blown away! I love this book so much and my child gets excited to look at all the illustrations! Would definitely recommend. I’ve ordered other books off amazon and been disappointed but this one is beautiful all around. Very happy!

Love all of Julia Donaldson books. This is so cute and educational!

great story!!!

I am a teacher and love reading Julia Donaldson's books to my students! She is such a great children's author! Her books are creative, unique, funny, and clever. We never get tired of reading them!

Julia Donaldson is a wonderful children's author!

I am a mostly Charlotte Mason homeschool mom and am always looking for "living books" (books that tell a story with facts woven throughout). This adorable story shares the journey of a gentoo penguin escaping captivity and finding his way back to Antarctica. As a former science teacher, I appreciate the scientific accuracy of the story. The illustrations aren't my favorite, but the story has been enjoyed over and over again by my 2, 4, and 6 year old.

My 6 year old loves all the Julia Donaldson books.

I purchased two books for my grandchildren in memory of my dad. He was an oceanographer and spent time in Antarctica. I told the girls that he was hanging out with a lot of friends down there! They love the story and there was a lot of information for them to learn.

Great book - kids love it.

Jonty Gentoo by Julia Donaldson is an absolute delight from start to finish. The story follows a charming penguin and his adventures, making it instantly engaging for little readers and perfect for animal lovers. The rhymes are, as you’d expect, wonderfully crafted—flowing effortlessly and making it such a joy to read aloud. They’re catchy without being repetitive, and my child was completely captivated the whole way through. The story itself is gentle, sweet, and full of heart. Jonty’s penguin adventures add a sense of curiosity, while still carrying a lovely message. The illustrations are just gorgeous—bright, expressive, and full of little details that give you something new to notice each time. They complement the story beautifully and really bring Jonty’s world to life. Overall, this is a charming addition to any child’s bookshelf and a must-have for fans of Julia Donaldson. Highly recommend!
