If you want a dry bathroom, this might be the best option you'll find.
This is a two month post-purchase review. If you don't want to read my ramblings on this... it's a terrific fan! This was purchase for post construction and where was no fan in the bathroom. I have two teenagers (I also live in Florida) so the bathroom was beginning to take on some rather swampy characteristics that required bleach, kilz and new paint. I decided that i would use the humidity sensors AND hook the manual on/off switch. This has been a great solution for us anyhow. The fan is quiet and moves a LOT of air without making a lot of noise. The instructions did't seem too bad to me and I've never installed an exhaust fan. I did discover that when they build houses they will run the romex with as little slack as possible, so if this is a new install and you are splicing into an existing circuit like I did... get yourself two junction boxes at the home improvement store. The install didn't seem too bad to me. The fan is great, the bathroom mirrors don't get foggy or don't stay that way for long. I could question that the fan might seem to run longer than it needs to, but of the bathroom stays dry who am I to complain? When we redo the master bath it's getting a Panasonic fan with the humidity sensor as well.

Quiet and amazing
I cannot stand bathroom fans. Installed these and I have never been happier. Simple to install if you know what you are doing. The quality is amazing. Their is virtually no sound and they have a very sleek cover. Worth every cent.

We Soooooo Needed This . . . !
Having moved into a 200 year-old house with a family of nine with one shower . . . and no vent fan . . . well, we have some mildew growing on the ceiling and window. Can clean that up, now, and repaint the ceiling since we installed this Panasonic ceiling vent fan =). Works great, and is nice and quiet! Installation was easily done by hubby. Since we had limited space in the wall for the electrical switch, we did not hook up the humidity sensor that this model has (much to my chagrin). A remodel down the road is planned for that bathroom, so at that point we will revisit hooking up that very cool feature.UPDATE: Nearly a year of heavy use and we still LOVE this fan! I painted the bathroom ceiling last winter (mildew killing primer and then regular ol' ceiling paint), and the ceiling is still perfect - NO recurrence of ANY mildew at all. The fan works great, even with the many showers taken in that bathroom.Highly recommended!

Correct way to wire the fan
After reading many of the complaints regarding getting the fan to work both with the sensors and the ability to use the fan on the fly. Ashley Mason is the only one that made this a simple hookup. You do not need two switches as the instruction shows. You do need two sets of Romex wires. The first set of wires is ran lo give the fan full time power, no switch. White to white, black to black, green to ground. turn on the power and the fan should run. The second set (consider these to both be red wires) will go through the switch and connect to the red wires at the fan. With the power still on, at the switch, check the two "red" wires with a tester to see which one has some power. It will be less than 120V. After turning off the power, the hot "red wire" wire goes on the bottom of the switch. The other wire on to the top of the switch. Connect the ground with the other grounds. Turn the switch on, turn the humidity sensor all the way up (100%) , then turn the power back on. The fan should be running. If all is good to this point, turn the switch off. (When the switch is on, it cuts the power to the humidity circuit and allows the fan to run). The fan will run for 20+ minutes after the switch is off. With the switch off, slowly turn the humidity sensor down. At some point, the fan should start. Once the humidity is sucked out to the set point, the fan will run for 20+ minutes before turning off. To speed up the testing, after the fan starts, turn the sensor back up to 100%. After testing is done, the sensor generally should be set around 60%. That's it.

Don't buy Panasonic
I bought 2 units. The electrician and I have spent hours unsuccessfully trying to get them to work. The electrician says they are defective. I have tried to contact Panasonic tech support numerous times to trouble shoot, never reaching anyone by phone and email (5 calls with very long holds before the call was dropped, I left 3 messages requesting a call back but never received a call back, emailed them with no response). I am now stuck with $260 worth of useless items, I have paid more than that to the electrician, and have wasted many hours of my own time. Given Panasonic's track record of defective items and NO tech support I will never buy another Panasonic item for myself or, as an architect, for any clients.
