The old switch disintegrated and fell into the heater The connecting wires are hanging loose. Can anyone advise where the three wires go

I fitted this switch to a Dimplex storeage heater for my mum, so the wiring i describe is specific to it. So, looking at the switch as shown, i.e. with LED on the left, the wires are as follows from left to right: 1. Brown - Live 2. Purple - Switched live, i.e. LED is on when switch active 3. Blue/Black - Neutral (i think). There are two connections here on the one terminal. Hope this helps

For removal of the old switch, does this require taking off the front plate of the heater?

Yes it does, generally the storage heater will have two screws underneath at either end, once unscrewed the front of the panel should lift upwards and outwards to be released. Once the label is released you will find the crimp connectors attached to the switch at the top right hand side, be sure to note which crimp connecters come Off of each terminal and switch like for like Good luck

will this fit my CXLS24 night storage

In my opinion it should. I’m pretty sure these are standard across the Dimplex storage/ convector range . I’ve changed my switch twice

I haven't fitted any of these particular switches yet but they seem standard to the ones I've fitted before - it's the one problem we have with our XLN storage heater with convector built in, this switch gets overheated and burns out. Personally I think it's a design flaw of the main heater but changing these switches is second nature now and it's usually fit and forget until it burns out. Nothing wrong with the switch, more an issue with how the whole convector works on top of an already hot heater board.
