As a teen I was introduced to the wonderful world of Callard and Bowsers licorice toffees (and their butterscotch toffees as well). They were creamy and delicious and different from any other licorice I'd ever had. They were ever so addicting. In the 90s the company was sold and sadly in the aughts their flagship licorice toffee (as well as the butterscotch) was phased out. I'd like to meet the execs who thought that was a good idea. So my search was on for a licorice toffee that could satisfy the Callard and Bowser itch. I tried so many and was about to give up when I read someone's review here on Amazon about these walker's confections. That reviewer too had been searching for a replacement for their beloved Callards and they believed these came close. and.they.do!!! These are magnificent, craveable and addicting. I don't have and Callard and Bowsers to compare them to straight up but I can nevertheless say that my search is over. It has been a few years now since I purchased my first jar and I have yet to be disappointed. Creamy, mellow and with a perfect balance of licorice. Not too chewy. Not too hard. I've now turned so many people onto these. Even folks who claim not to live licorice seem to like these flavorful little pillows of goodness :) BOTTOM LINE: if you like mellow licorice these strike the perfect balance of flavor and texture. They're not too sweet and not salty. Callard and Bowsers if you're out there somewhere I DO miss you and your perfect little box of licorice treasures. But these Walker's make me miss you a lot less.

I purchased two of these containers of licorice toffee. One of them had been opened! The other was still sealed. I contacted Amazon customer service and use the chat option to explain what had happened. I was able to get a refund for one of the containers, which is very fair, and the only right thing to do considering that it’s food, and food should not arrive already opened. As for the licorice, I’m convinced it is the best licorice toffee that I have found in years. I’ll have to have my husband hide it and dole out five pieces a day, otherwise I’ll eat the whole thing at once and end up in the ER, ha ha. It is THAT good.

I have to admit I'm a dedicated customer. These are wonderful, take time to soften in the mouth, once they soften they bring a party all of their own, I lose track of importance with these candies, very addicting. I don't think it's such a bright idea for me to be around these candies at 54. Nice texture very smooth rich carmal licorice flavor. Not lacking in goodness

Excellent flavor, soft, chewy liquorice toffee. My travels throughout the world, this is the best flavor made. I purchased it in Europe and New Zealand, it is the best. I am so happy I can still find it and order it. I realize it is not the cheapest, but it has the best flavor.

This candy is awesome! Has the real taste of black licorice. (And it’s gluten free, even though it doesnt advertise it).

Honestly, I shouldn't rave about this product, because then more people will buy it and I won't be able to get it anymore. BUT! If you like (or love) black licorice, then this stuff will make you start dancing. It's simply heaven in a wrapper. And the seller sent it so fast! I've ordered it in the past from a different seller, and it's taken 45 days. I think it was sent directly from England by tortoise. This time? Just 3 days and presto! Happy Me!

The best-tasting licorice toffee I have ever tasted! It's soft and chewy, and so addictive it's difficult to stop at a few!

Nonsuch brand British licorice toffees are one of the best treats in the world, in my opinion, and I'm a huge licorice fan loving so many varieties from salty to sweet. This is why I pay lobster prices for a bulk container of candy, sure there are smaller packs available but when you get one of those wee packets and after sampling only one you'll feel like you need the bulk bag.

Absolutely tasty licorice toffees, great jar, should last a while. Great value for money. Would make a great gift. Definitely will buy again. 5 stars all the way
