Easy to use, allows you to output your laptop to an external screen via a USB into a VGA connector, well priced.
I have purchased a number of these, you simply upload the provided software from Startech who offer regular (free) updates, then you plug the box into a USB port on your laptop and a VGA cable to the external screen, checking your external screen has a VGA in (most have). If needed you change your graphic settings on your PC, right click on the home screen, and out put to mre than one screen and presto you have a multiple screens. We run 2x external screens on all our office PC's and this gizmo works very well at a really good price, love it.

StarTech.com USB to VGA Adapter -
Excellent adapter, works without any programs installation. plug and play (the DVD is there, but i did not need it) all just works. Bought 2 for 2 monitors, all working, no problem. The monitor position can be configured in settings, but if it is only two monitors the computer is working it out by itself. I am happy with this somewhat pricey, but reliable adaptor!

Works, but lacks sharpness.
I used this with a Dell laptop running Windows 10 to connect a pretty old Dell screen. Text is not as sharp with this device as, say, my Mac mini's thunderbolt to VGA adapter with the same Dell screen, which gives crystal clear text and no driver to install. But that is Mac for you. This is PC - At least it works. Startech's online help/chat was excellent.

Brilliant 3 monitors on MacBook Pro mid 2015
This product is now working with my MacBook Pro mid 2015 model and operating system Catalina 10.15. Download the latest driver, but had to tech support to help. They uninstalled it ad reinstalled it then do a hard reboot, not restart: then the MacBook Pro saw it. I am now running 3 monitors. 1 from mini D.C., 2 from thunderbolt/ Mini-dv, and 3rd from this device. Works fantastic. I also used a vga to hdmi converter to put it in the 3rd monitor. All is good as gold.

USB2VGA2 -3 performance
Function of these is dependent on your system and resources in my experience. I now run an AMD 8 core processor in windows 8.1 - excellent performance with the USB2VGAE2 which I have had for a few years now. I am running 1 USB2VGAE2 but intend to add my other one for a 4 monitor system. It runs on my xp netbook OK too for a 3rd screen which is quite old actually. Previous to this I ran XP and windows 7 dual boot on a pentium 4 single core processor 3.2GHz.. it didnt work for windows 7 and crashed the system, but worked for xp with limited usage. I think dependent on your model they draw more from your processor, the graphics or cpu I can't remember which. For the cheaper models like the USB2VGAE2 with a good spec computer and graphics card it works well for Video and all screen functions. My Graphics is an NVidea Geforce GT650 with passive cooling, processor 8 core AMD 3.3 GHZ. It's a good choice for a multi monitor system if you want to work on a budget.. function will depend on the ability of your system. The more expensive ones such as the USB2VGAE3 and above use more of their own memory, but as stated I have no issues with my system any more and the USB2VGAE2 - but i have found it to be system dependant.

simple.
Downloaded drivers, plugged it in and away we go. Simple. Didn't have to change any screen settings etc. Easy way to get a second screen up and running without having to take the back off your PC. Signal has dropped out a couple of times, but turned it off and back on again and all OK.

Want that third monitor screen for gaming/work/the experience? This is the device for you!
Brilliant product! Did exactly what I needed/wanted it to do without habing to take my PC apart to replace any graphics card. Will definitely recommend this item to anyone who wants to have two or three monitors set up on their computers. This means I will be abe to effectively multitask with my uni work and can already feel my productivity going through the roof! Also... I tried a cheaper standard USB to VGA adaptor off of eBay but it DID NOT work. Definitely worth the money to get one of these for success first time.
