is this tray leak-proof eg could potatoes be roasted without the fat dripping out of the join?

No it's not leakproof. It's a great baking tray for dry items, but there is a join that will leak liquids.

Does this separate into 2 pieces?

It does separate and it’s a lovely tray you can make it to the size of the the oven

Can I roast meat in this tray?

As the tray slides, you may find leakage of fluids from the tray, it’s not great seal at the bottom. I use it for roasting potatoes and veg, chips etc, dry foods .
