Q: Does the entire thing come apart? I’m just wondering if I am going to need to unplug and move the whole unit to clean the top piece etc.

extremely easy to take apart and clean, we do it once a week, prevents cat ace. still going strong, all my cats like it.

Q: Just bought this and so far so good- but there was no pump noise the first day or two, and now it hums quite a bit- normal or problem?

The pump noise usually caused by blocked intake on the pump. I have three cats so it is easy for the blockage to be from their hair. The problem is easily solved by removing the pump and cleaning off the intake. Voila! The noise goes away until it becomes blocked again.

Q: Does the fountain come with a filter? I am curious if I will need to buy the pack of three right away.

It did come with one to start and then I later on ended up buying some replacements.
