This adapter fits in the T7910 factory slim drive DVD caddy. Used for a Samsung 870 EVO SSD. Built surprisingly well and no issues installing. The only debate I had was the thickness and it turned out this is the correct thickness for the T7910 slim DVD tray.The only complaint I might have is the plastic film they use to protect the adapter after manufacturing. It's a bit of a pain to take off, but the overall quality is good. The face plate is plastic, but serves its purpose.

Functionally, it works like a charm. As a DIY install, it was an experience.My laptop is an older unit. Until I tried to install it, I didn't realize that the replacement unit is actually a few mm thinner than the original OEM unit. That's not a problem. What was a problem was that the milling for the retention flange (flange not provided) is just slightly off plane.I installed the unit without the flange, because my old laptop doesn't need to travel. When I have the time and presence of mind, I need to slot out the holes on the retention flange which came from the original optical drive that came with the unit.Because I use the second drive as a bootable Linux install, it took several successful boots from both operating systems (Win10 and Fedora35) before the BIOS would properly recognize the new sled. After that, there have been no issues.

I removed the cd rom drive in my dell r720 and installed this drive with a 2tb which is now my boot drive instead of using one of the valuable 3.5" drives bays I use for hard drives. I will buy more for my other servers.

I decided to return it as soon as I saw it as it was very cheaply made and one of the tiny plastic pegs that keep the front on, was already broken. I don't understand why the front was made to look like a CD/DVD drive... It is a SSD/HDD caddy and the front does not need to be removable or even look like a drive it is not. I wonder whether this construction allows you to use front face plates taken from the drives it replaces... but I would be surprised if those drives all had a standard mounting system that was as delicate of the one on this caddy. On a side note, I wanted to use this in a Lenovo TinyPC caddy so a non removable plain flat face plate would have been perfect.

My Dell Precision M4800 needed a second drive and I like that this adapter was a perfect fit. Following the instructions provided, I was able to install my SSD and slide the whole assembly into its appropriate place. I am happy with my purchase.

It showed deterioration after couple pull. it was quite difficult to remove it once plugged in.
