I worried that re-reading this as an adult with my 4 year old daughter would have knocked off the rose-tinted glasses.I loved this book as a child, and I'm delighted to say that it's still as wonderfully imaginative and beautifully brought to life as I remembered.The best part is that my little girl loves it, too.

Amazing illustrations. Iam enraptured. The text, however, is solemn and jejune You'd be far better off rereading Gulliver to which Dinotopia owes quite a lot. Also get the enlarged poster of the triumphal entry into Sauropolis (a bif of a struggle on the net).

Well written and full of fantastic artwork. Very inspirational and aesthetically pleasing. Each page could easily stand on its own :) I highly recommend it!

Sequel fantasy storybook to Dinotopia in landscape HB/dj format. Former scene painter Gurney has transferred his artistic talents to the book illustration medium with aplomb and produced a remarkable result. The book is in the style of a biologist's journal, with watercolour sketches of creature details and oil paintings of whole scenes from the story, all underpinned with excellent draughtsmanship. Check out the footprint alphabet - toe much, geddit? Oh, never mind!

We have the whole series and they are all so beautiful that we re-read them often. Our daughter is now 13 and is re-reading them all in sequence -- she glows while reading them. There is so much to learn in each book! Fiction and non-fiction intertwine perfectly. The illustrations are the best you may ever see in any book. Ever. Really. Trust me. Get these books. The last book, First Flight, is a little more technical, a little more intense and less dreamy, but still awesome.

This book is amazing, brilliant illustrations. I will definitely buy other books in this series.
