Plastic Thread Organiser by Siesta

indispensable
My mother taught me to sew when I was a child and I have found that embroidery is a great way to relax. The biggest problem with embroideries is keeping the thread ordered and easily selectable when you need them. Most embroideries include skeins of thread and "loose" threads which are usually threaded through cardboard with holes. The problem arises when the cardboard starts to weaken and give way. This can happen for several reasons through the removal and reattachment of threads being the main one.The main reason that I purchased these thread sorters was so that I could have a the thread in use and the short length that it came from together in one place while the rest of the colour could remain untouched (and unruffled). One of the best things about these plastic thread organisers is that you can write on the in pencil - I usually put the thread number and the symbol that it relates to. If there are multiple uses for the thread (one thread, 2 threads, single stitch, cross stitch, long stitch, backstitch, etc, then they can be written on the organiser too. They are especially useful when you have to blend 2 or more coloured threads - it is easier to keep track of what you have blended and what you haven't.Unlike cardboard organiser these can be reused multiple times all you need to do is give them a wash with washing up liquid and water to get the previous pencil incantations. These are superb for anyone who does embroidery, cross stitch or tapestry as they will hold various thicknesses of thread.

Not very useful
You either like these or you dont. I find it easier to use the plastic flat bobbins (they are reusable dont buy card ones) and stick on the DMC thread numbers or you can use a Sharpie marker. When I split a length of floss I rewind the strands back onto the bobbin and secure them in the cleat. Make sure you buy the ones with the narrowest cleat for embroidery silks. These siesta things get in a mess if youve got a lot of different threads on the go, the threads work loose and get in a tangle with its neighbours. You've also got a job to detach just one length of thread from the lengths youve looped into each hole. Its not time saving. The way to go is bobbins, labelled and put in a plastic case in order, makes it easier, neater to use and good economical use of your threads.

Excellent
I already owned 2 of these and was keen to get my hands on some more for a large project I was starting. The listing stated they were pink, and I wanted white, but I couldn't find white anywhere, so I thought "sod it" and ordered the pink ones. I was very happy when white ones arrived in my order! They are very sturdy and strong and I will be buying again.

Almost Perfect
I like this but didn't realise when I purchase it that there is no way to mark the hole with the colour/symbol from a cross stitch kit. I did find a way around this and put small sticky labels on next to the holes with the symbols from the kit I was using. I normaly just use a piece of cardboard and punch holes in it so wanted something a little more robust. This is a good design but for being unable to mark it to differentiate the threads if your using similar colours it might get a bit confusing.

Ready Thready Go
This is perfect for holding your threads plus you can put the thread number stickers on. My older Siesta ones are heavier weight so don't feel bendy like these but they do the job all the same. In fact I ordered several more.

Really useful
I'd definitely recommend this item; it's been really good for my cross-stitch and I like that it's sturdy and reusable.

Handy and simple
A simple way to organise threads, it's not that big so this is the second one I've bought. But at the price still good value.
