Great All in One Chainsaw sharpner
Easy to use and has prolonged the blade on my chainsaw. Only takes a few minutes to sharpen the blade now and I find myself sharpening the blade more regularly which has improved the effectiveness of my chainsaw.

Makes sharpening your chainsaw a pleasure
After using chainsaws for over 15 years, I’ve tried just about everything to get a decent edge: freehand filing, guides of all types, dremel power tools and machine sharpening. Nothing comes close to the speed and accuracy of this device. In part it’s because of the excellent quality files Stihl includes, but mainly because it’s supremely easy to use. Four or five stokes puts a razor-like edge to your chain, and files down the risers gently but perfectly.Ensure you buy the right size and watch the how-to-use videos on YouTube (oddly, Stihl’s is useless). Finally the price: it’s not cheap, but if you do a lot of sawing (and you really should sharpen after every session) it soon pays for itself in terms of time saved.

Excellent piece of kit.
Brilliant bit of kit. My Husqvarna chainsaw gets some heavy use and I have tried all sorts of different ways of sharpening the chains. I just couldn’t seem to get good results with a hand file, no matter how hard I tried, and I even bought an electric jig, but still wasn’t impressed. However, as soon as I unwrapped the Stihl file holder, it took me 5 minutes to sharpen the chain and I was off! Big chips coming off the wood. The other bonus is that the file in the holder tackles the depth gauge at the same time as sharpening the teeth. A really good, simple piece of kit.

Four Stars
Never quite as good as a new chain but does a reasonable job

Wow! Surprisingly good
I had a chance to use this today for the first time and I found it an excellent tool. For some reason, it's much easier to maintain a consistent angle when filing (compared with other guides I've used) with the result that the chain cutters have a needle sharp point to them. Large chunks of wood fly out as the blade sinks into the wood.On first use, I highly recommend this sharpener. My guess is that the tool is well made and will last but I understand that files can be replaced if necessary. I've long aspired to getting my chain this sharp; now I can do it, even if I am an occasional chainsaw user and don't get much practice.

If you've got a chainsaw you need this
This is the best chain sharpener I've ever had. I've never been very successful when it comes to sharpening chains. I'm simply not accurate enough to get good results. This bit of kit removes skill from the equation, and if I can manage to turn out a sharp chain within five minutes or so that will actually cut wood then anyone can. Even my neighbour, who is a mechanical engineer and understands what to do, says its the best file he's ever had. It's simplicity to use, with the holder sitting the file in exactly the right place to file the cutter, while also resetting the depth controller. The guides ensure you're always sharpening in the right place and to the right depth. The most difficult thing, and it's not really too difficult, is working out which way round the tool needs to be, but there's an arrow printed on the holder to show you the direction the file works in. It also makes it easy to hold it at the correct angle to the chain bar, so the only thing you need worry about is keeping it flat. To help me get started I found some YouTube videos which demonstrated how to use it. They helped a lot. As someone who had to throw chains away when they got blunt because I couldn't sharpen them properly, this file has opened my eyes. Get one and you'll never look back.

Simple but affective
This is a great tool, i have spent a long time using files but nothing compares to the speed and accuracy of using this tool. You are pretty much garranteed to get the correct angle and not to take too much off the chain, also you file the depth guages at the same time so you only do half the work! It's very handy to take out with you, much better the any electrical gadgets you can buy and makes chain maintenance less of a chore.

Where have you been all my life?
Why didn’t I just buy one of these a few years ago? I ask myself that question ever time I use it.Since buying this size for my big saw, I’ve bought another which fits the smaller saw and my pruning saw. Yes, it’s that good!So easy, anyone can now sharpen a chain as good as anyone hand sharpening. One big advantage with the easy file is that it files down the depth gauge at the same time.I give every tooth 3 passes and it just like a new chain. It takes me less than 5 minutes to do a 62 link chain. Unlike machine sharpening (which has its place) you’re not taking excess material out of your chain and at the same time, not over heating your cuttting edge. Just my opinion.Do yourself a favour and buy a genuine Stihl easyfile though. The files that come with them are first class as you’d expect from stihl. You can also buy the replacement round and flat files for when the originals wear out.
