Ellie-Bo Black Standard Medium 30-inch Folding 2-Door Dog Cage/Crate with Metal Tray

It's always difficult when trying to choose what will in essence be, not only a bed but a safe and non-intrusive crate for your dog. My requirements living in a small apartment was that it shouldn't be too bulky, but still be amply spacious for my puppy. I measured what I felt would be a suitable space in all dimensions, then made my search to find the one I felt would be most suitable. It had to be strong but not so heavily constructed that it would make it difficult to move if needed. It also had to be simple and quick to put together. I have been more than impressed and delighted in this particular crate and it exceeded my expectations. It arrived very quickly to me here in Portugal and was well packed. Putting up the crate was as simple as pulling up the integrated handle and just fastening the sides! Cleaning the crate is quick and easy as it has ample headroom even for a small human adult to crawl inside too! It's very sturdy, airy and my puppy couldn't wait to get inside. I can lift it to where I want it to go, and because it has 2 doors (with effective bolts to lock), I can turn it with either the door on the long side or the shorter side. It has proved to be a brilliant purchase and the price is exceptionally reasonable. I can't even think of any negatives about this product and can highly recommend it. My only advice if you're buying a crate for the first time is to properly measure the space where you Intend to place it. Don't forget to measure the height too as if it's for a puppy, they will obviously grow and it makes sense to aim to get a crate that they will still be able to use when fully grown. I have a Maltese Bichon puppy and she will be able to comfortably use it for many years. Obviously, if you have a puppy for a larger breed you need to bear in mind that they won't fit into it when fully grown, it you still have to allow for their growing process they will quickly outgrow the crate! Sounds obvious, but it's still worth mentioning.

We originally got the 24", then the 30" and we are about to order the 36". Due to lots of research we didn't want to get one too large otherwise it may have encouraged her to use one end as a toilet but she was never a problem in that area so I would recommend going for your end size rather than build up to it. That said, they are so inexpensive that it won't break the bank if you do get a few and we will use the old one for the car on short journeys to the vet or the beach! We probably need the additional size due to fluffy soft bedding that takes up a good few inches but hey, she's worth it! That and she's getting bigger each morning... On the original one, two of the metal retaining clips that assist with the folding mechanism had very sharp edges on them as the manufacturing process appears to require a little more quality control, as they had not been folded over correctly. Thankfully and surprisingly, there was a lose one in the box so I swapped one over and bent the other flat and took a file to it. No drama. On the 30" there was however, a large slither of metal from a weld that thankfully found my finger when I was assembling it, rather than the dog's tongue. As such, whilst it hasn't put me off the manufacturer, I would strongly suggest ensuring that you give it a very close inspection before you put your pet into it. if we hadn't been desperate for it, I would have sent it back for a replacement but living in the highlands postage takes a while longer. So why still the 4 stars then? Because it does exactly what it needs to and it is a great price. I went for the silver one as it just doesn't stand out and doesn't look like a cage. There are many more expensive alternatives out there but putting the above couple of issue aside, these are really well made and great value. I have read the few horror stories on some of the reviews for the product but our pet (now a 6 month old lab cross) has had no issues with it whatsoever. Owners have to remember that the crate is a 'den' there for her security and a place of rest for her, not a secure compound for solitary confinement. If the dogs have issues then these need to be addressed at source and the crate is not the answer. seek advice from a reputable vet. As an aside, we put a couple of old towels over it to make it more den like and she loves it - we ensure that the doors are open when not in use and she just uses it for naps/sleep and has totally accepted it as her space. I would have awarded the five stars had it not have been for the quality control issue but they sell so many a few rough ones are bound to slip through the net. I am however, hoping that the one we are about to order is ok, as 3 out of 3 faulty would be a pain so it would be a return job this time but hopefully it wont come to that. I have attached a picture of Ellie and her sister Jelly in the original 24" one - not much chance of getting one of them in there now though. Hope this review helps just remember, check it out first as sometimes things just happen.

I would highly recommend this puppy/dog crate. I did a lot of research and spoke to friends who have had more expensive crates including Savic and Rosewood and found that this crate is easily the best value for what you get and also for what most people actually need from a dog crate (ie non-show dogs/breeders etc). It is extremely easy to assemble, lightweight but sturdy with good srength walls & top. I think another bonus is that the black looks good in any home as it blends in more easily than a bright silver without looking 'prison like'. It also comes with a detachable handle which is useful if you collapse it first although we don't move ours around much. I bought an extra large one (& like the other reviewers covered the top and sides with a long floor mat/runner to create a little den) for our Rhodesian Ridgeback pup to sleep in and generally escape from the humans if he wants some quiet time. He took to it from day one and still uses it regularly. The only comment I would make is to make sure you get a large enough one from day one if you have a large breed dog so you don't have to upgrade as your puppy grows. Our puppy didn't seem to mind an extra large cage when he was small(which was for a VERY short time as he seemed to double in size every time you blinked) as long as you make it cosy in the corner and cover the top) He is almost 6 months now and I realise I will need to upgrade to the XXL sized crate to give him a little more room as he is a sucker fot soft bedding etc and this does reduces the space he has when standing little. We've zipped tied an old set of babydan child gate/railings around the front of the cage and also zipped tied the door permanently open so our dog has his own private balcony area where he has his water and food bowl so we can still keep him in but also give him a little extra room. We have bought two excellent collapsible Ellie-Bo dog crates (perfect for a grown Cocker Spaniel). Ladies, mind your nails when collapsing this! It does collapse with a bit of pressure/use of pliers, but is probably only meant to collapse occasionally rather than daily. The metal tray is easy to remove/reinsert and clean. The door latches are secure and quick and easy to slide. The SLANTED version comes with an excellent machine washable, quick drying fleece. For our puppy we have added newspaper under the provided fleece and have added a vet grade whelping fleece on top. I recommend buying a spare fleece: one on, one in the wash. We have the slanted model for the car and the regular (medium) size for the house. CAR: As the cage does not have a SIDE opening, we are unable to place the cage sideways in the car - it fits very well, but quite wide across the width of the boot. UNDER STAIRS: again, we are unable to take advantage of the slant to fit the cage under our open kitchen stairs as there is no side door. Therefore the cage takes up the width under our stairs. Which works very well but is not entire economical of space use. We therefore bought the RECTANGULAR version to keep permanently at home. 30" is perfect for a fully grown Cocker Spaniel - the 36" overly large. The separately sold water bowl holder with removable bowl is the ideal and practical accessory. Quick and easy to unscrew when you collapse the cage. I thoroughly and cheerfully recommend this sturdy Ellie-Bo cage.

I have one of these for my working border collie in large and they are great crates . Just bought this xl for my working German shepherd . The Ellie bo is a good sturdy crate and they cater to different sizes/ breeds. One of the things that sets them apart is that they also give a guide as to height of dog which crate size would be best which makes things quick and easy when selecting and buying , no having to faf about . The crates are reasonably priced so that another ✅. You can also order bedding made to fit the crate size your purchasing here another tick ✅. My collie has had hers for several years so when looked after they do last , I’d the tray gets wet however it’s imperative to dry it off quickly to avoid rusting so as stated look after it and it will last your dog a while . I recommend this brand

Very happy with this dog crate. Assembles in seconds and is made of quality materials that fit perfectly together to give a strong but reasonably light crate. We ordered the black one and the finish is very good with no sharp edges anywhere making it safe for dog and owner and easy to slide across carpets without the risk of damage. The tray that fits in the bottom is similarly good / strong and flat. I noticed some folk saying the door catches can be fiddly. Really, they're not. The manufacturer has simply chosen a really simple mechanism that minimises any breakage risk. We have a cockapoo puppy and the 30" has more than enough room for her as you'd expect. For adult dogs, I'd say that this size cage could happily take a good size cocker spaniel. Finally the snap on carry handle is fine but should be positioned centrally for balance. Personally, I just pick up the crate with one hand on either side - easy. You can spend a lot more but honestly, you're not going to get anything better than this.

Bought this for our new puppy (Boston Terrier) so size wise ideal for a small puppy/dog. Previously had a much larger one for our beagle Scooby but felt as though a smaller one would be better suited to a puppy etc. Also less heavy for putting into car. Hence buying this one. Well the first dog crate that came had an issue with the door latches on the bigger door. More a case of close one latch but then the other would not match up. Really looked like that when being made the measurements went slightly off scale. So if suffering with OA or not having hands that can really wrestle with the door latch I would avoid it. Annoying as when looking at the crate on line it seemed ideal, with it having the two door openings, easier for putting into a room space wise etc. Another thing the metal tray underneath does not appear to come out, if it does I must be missing something other than my fingertips as that is how it feels when trying to get it out. Anti bad wipes will have to do their job on this I am thinking. A shame really as the weight of it feels sturdy, but only one handle on top. That does not feel that hefty either, would I feel safe carrying puppy into the car by using just the handle? No would get other half to lift whole crate in instead. Well first one sent back re door latch fault, eventually get another (delivery companies think we have all been there and been let down). Second one, it has exactly the same issues as the first one door latches. Is really a case of shut one and the other does not match up, not quite as bad as first and other half has taken various tools to it to move it slightly now. Also in position using the smaller door, so not a major problem. But with it being advertised as a two door opening crate. (Yes, I know it opens but closing s different matter). Feel a little let down. Obviously a manufacturing fault must have been a Friday when this batch was made as one it does happen but two with same issue a fault I would say. It is black in colouring and only time will tell if the black coating comes off any of the crate. Will update at a later date to say how it is wearing. So a dog crate that seems a good price for what it is, but do bear in mind that you may be unlucky and only get one door that latches properly instead of the two as meant. Hopefully Amazon will make the makers aware of the probem, as looking at other reviews it is not just myself that has experienced this fault, once the faults corrected it should be as good as it was meant to be. We were into two crates and same issue but could not wait for another to be delivered etc as needed it for new puppy, just do bear in mind if ordering to make sure you allow enough time for maybe having to send it back like I did. Would have been easier thinking to look at pet shops and buy one but the price of this seemed too good to be true. UPDATE. Well colouring has only come off slightly on hinge part so not too bad. Crate still being used and even with puppy now 17 weeks old and bigger still remains on floor without sliding about even on tiled floor. He does tend to bite near the hinge parts at times but still all intact even with throwing himself up and down at times. The floor tray easy to wipe with Antibac wipes or I do steam mop it twice a week too just incase. To be honest though no really mess in it apart from wee accidents overnight when soaked through puppy pad. Update May 2016. Crate still being used by our dog, some colouring worn away by it just being used on fastenings and him sharpening his teeth on it. Still substantial even when one naughty dog tries to jump on it. Plus have noticed when he is fastened away in it and wanting attention (our meal times usually) he puts his eye on one side of bars, looks yucky but no sharp edges anywhere on it thankfully. Would recommend this dog crate to anyone. Just bare in mind the tray gets stuck so either a mop or anti back wipes easier to clean it with. Plus hopefully the latch issues have been sorted now.

La he comprado para un perrete de 2 kg. Lo veo ideal para este tamaño y /o quizás alguno poco más grande, pero no mucho más, sino no tendrá espacio para moverse, o lo hará muy ajustado. En relación al acabado, muy bien, bien terminado. Los cierres de las puertas son fuertes, es prácticamente imposible que lo abra un animal si los cierras correctamente. Al sacar la jaula de la caja / embalaje, puede parecer complejo de montar, pero una vez que lo has hecho la primera vez, se hace a ojos cerrados, y se pliega igualmente, en 10 segundos. Para transportarla, ocupa un grosor muy pequeño una vez se pliega, entorno a unos 4-5 centímetros.

Ottima gabbia per cani. Acquistata per il maremmano della mia compagna che a breve dovrà essere operato ai crociati. Dovrà stare 1 mese a riposo e solo in una gabbia si può essere sicuri che il riposo sia rispettato. E' davvero ben fatta. Le dimensioni: altezza 86,4cm - larghezza 78,7cm - profondità 121,9cm L'intera gabbia e' fatta con un filo di acciaio del diametro di 4mm, con uno spazio tra le "sbarre" di 3.6cm. Ha due porte di apertura, una sul lato corto e una sul lato lungo. Ha una maniglia (montaggio opzionale, io non l'ho montata) in plastica che si monta ad incastro. Si ripiega per facilitarne il trasporto e diventa di uno spessore di pochi cm. Ha il fondo in ferro rimovibile, basta scorrere il fondo (togliendo i blocchi) Ha doppie "maniglie" ad incastro di chiusura per ogni porta Arriva gia assemblata e piegata. Nella confezione ci sarà un manuale con le immagini per l'apertura corretta, e una semplice giuda (in inglese) di "addestramento" per far conoscere la gabbia al proprio cane. Non tutti i cani sono felici di essere chiusi in un posto nuovo, bisogna sempre fare una abituazione. Materiali diversi, rumori diversi, possono stressare non poco il cane.
