Yemenren 8GB Digital Voice Recorder Audio Sound Recorder Dictaphone, Double Microphone, Voice Activated

I use this for dictation, recording thoughts and Ideas for stories. I use Dragon Naturally Speaking software to convert the files to text; unfortunately this will not likely work for lectures since Dragon has to adapt to an individual. I usually clip this device to my shirt and carry it around with me throughout the day, and I keep it by my bedside at night for those rare inspiring dreams. I put it though some basic tests.Positive:I found that it records my voice very well whether I'm 30ft away or holding it up to my mouth. It's small enough not to be intrusive. It has a solid aluminum case, which has withstood several falls; it takes some dings when this happens. The simple time/date file name is easy to organize. It is easy to find the switches in the dark. The screen is easily readable during the day without being too bright in the dark.Negative:It easily picks up little noises in the room, and of course the rustling of my shirt when wearing the recorder. It's easy to hit the off button instead of the save; I've only done this once. It's small enough to get misplaced more easily then the TV remote. The pin holding the clip on tends to slip out.Confession: Many times I forgot I was wearing the recorder. I fling open my jacket and off it would come; once into the toilet. Shocked I pulled up my sleeve and grabbed it quick like. I then preceded to rinse it off in the sink. I connected it to my computer and pulled the files off from it. It started showing signs that water had got into the screen. In my infinite wisdom (sarcasm) I decided to put it in the oven at the lowest temperature; which happens to be 170. I then forgot about it for half an hour. I pulled it out and let it cool down. when it was cool I tried turning it on but, the screen would only flash at me. Eventually the screen would just remain blank. I plugged it in, checking occasionally that it was not getting hot. After several hours it started working again, first with a partial screen then later it came fully back to life. I would say water is not good for it, but it will likely survive a hot car. I bought a second one just in case...

This is a small and sleek looking voice recorder. Easy to carry around because it is small. Recording is easy as you set the recorder to recording mode then slide the button on the left side to record. You just have to remember to slide the record button to save to end the recording. The recorder is sensitive to it picks up sound really well. The other side of that is that it picks up every little sound. This is a great recorder for recording lecturers and notes or reminders to oneself, but not good for anything you need clear sound without background noise. Wish I had this when I was in college. I used to record lectures with my phone and quality was not as good as this.

Just a piece of junk

Not usable as a dictaphone. Too bad one cannot review without ranking. This is a small portable device that is good for recording. It's feature set is too complicated - takes several steps to delete a file. It's like they were allergic to buttons.

The controls are terrible. It is very difficult to get it to do the simplest thing.

I am using this voice recorder to record speakers presentations at conferences so I don’t have to worry about writing it all down. The quality is great to be replayed later on to get the full recap again. The great thing is that it’s so lightweight and trendy that I don’t mind having it out.

I am really impressed with this recorder. It delivers great results along with it's stylish compact design. Simple to use and the playback is crisp and clear. I have recorded up to 30 minutes so far and the upload as well as playback was quick and easy. Great buy!

It records, saves and playback sounds very clear But I find it very difficult to change modes and other features. Im constantly having to refer back to the instruction booklet.
