Outstanding Product
Two years ago, we redid our front porch with ipe. The installers did not treat the wood with the proper finish and also incorrectly put a polyurethane clear coat on it. Within a year, the porch, which is covered, had weathered very poorly necessitating a redo. I was skeptical that I would be able to remove the finish and old stain. When I spoke to the employee at Lowe's, he did not seem to know what ipe was or how to deal with it. Fortunately I did not heed his advice and buy some generic deck prep and stain. I found a video online that featured this product. In the video, they recommended application with a large sprayer. I used an old spray bottle and it worked well. I scrubbed it a little with a stiff dust broom and it was clear that EVERYTHING was coming off of the wood. I hosed off the wood (with a regular hose, not a powerwasher) and when it dried, it looked like it was new. The brightener probably brightened it up a little, but since my wood is covered, its effects were not as dramatic. For it, I dampened the wood, sprayed it on, waited about thirty minutes, brushed it a little, and again hosed it off. I used a squeegee to get rid of the excess water and once it dried, it was absolutely ready to accept the appropriate ipe oil. The picture above is the deck after both products (but before the ipe oil). I'll try to find a pic that shows the before deck! This product is worth it. If my plants around my deck suddenly die, I'll subtract a few stars, but apparently it's pretty safe.

Good product, need both A and B.
You need both A and B to get the best results. I have Cumaru wood/deck and I have to use this plus the Ipe Oil at least once a year because it is on a full sun south exposure location on the back of our house. I get good results when I use both A and B. Plus you'll need a decent deck scrubber. Get one that is on a pole and not too stiff, so that it doesn't ruin your wood. Cumaru is really a super hard wood. Remember to go with the grain. My only concern, and I messaged the seller was that one of the containers did not have a inside plastic under the screw off lid and so when I opened it, it was stuck together and I had to mash it up before putting into my sprayer. I think some moisture got into the product. Otherwise, it worked as I expected.

Removed all the dirt, but required some effort
Some of what we read before purchasing made it sound like this is a spray and rinse type product. It may be so for light work. We had an ipe wood deck with about 4 years of algae and grime. We followed directions on package A (it took very little for our 250 sq ft deck - I think we now have a lifetime supply). It does "foam" up a bit, which feels like something is happening. But we discovered that we needed to get down on our hands and knees and brush every inch with a stiff bristle brush. I am sure this would have been much much harder without the product, as it did lift right off. But it was a fair amount of work. Brushing lifted a layer of ooze almost like mud, making us realize how dirty it was. After it looked like bare wood again. We did do the package B (brightener) all though I am not sure if it did anything. We later oiled the deck. I am not convinced the brighter was neccessary, esp with the oil coming on later anyway. But, step B is also pretty easy, so no harm.Overall, got every bit of dirt off, but did take some scrubbing. In the past we have used "wet and forget" brand product on other surfaces to remove algae, and it works amazing. That may be a good option for someone who wants to get the green out, but is not up for the scrubbing.

Waste of Time and Money
I was very disappointed in both the Cleaner and the Brightenerproducts from Messmer. I have previously reviewed the cleaner by itself. I felt it was a lot of work and removed about half of the dirt or less on my deck. The Brightener was even less impressive. I honestly could not see any difference between areas that I treated and areas that I had not yet treated.Complete waste of time and money in my opinion.

easy to use, worked perfectly
This turned out to be easy to use, and produced excellent results on my 4-year old meranti decking--refreshed the color, and added more resistance to rain and snow. I was worried that it would affect my adjacent garden area, but I saw no impact on the vegetation or lawn. I appreciated that it was less toxic than some of the other products on the market, and didn't find the two-step process difficult despite initial concerns.

Cleaner is best applied with a hand pump sprayer and scrub with ...
Ive used this before to prep an Ice deck for Messmers UV Plus natural stain. Works well. Cleaner is best applied with a hand pump sprayer and scrub with a brush or use a low pressure power washer. The brightener dose work. must sit 10 in or so, again best applied with a sprayer. Avoid letting it sit too long of uneven bleaching can occur. Messmers UV Plus works very well on IPE. Reapply every 2-3 years.

Use it on a older dirty deck that really needs to be brought back
This item bleached my deck. My deck was exposed to the elements for six months. Use it on a older dirty deck that really needs to be brought back. Do not scrub too aggressively.

Good product but must scrub
Part A doesn’t work as well as a pressure washer but after three applications, it got the job done. I may purchase again.
