Warning, Repels Cats...Not Catnip, but some kind of Mint
This product is horrible. Amazon should stop selling it. The company making or distributing it is Chinese and they have cheated on cost by using either chemicals or a cheaper plant material. The fish smell like Peppermint or Mint but definitely not like Catnip which has a musty almost cannabis like smell. I bought three sets of 2 to give to my cats, and two friends who both have 2 or 3 cats each. I tested on mine and they jumped away and did not move them at all for days. They were repelled by smell. I went to Xmas party and we opened the gifts to try on the other sets of cats. All three of my friends cats literally smelled the fish, then jumped back we if stung by a bee. That's how repellant the minty odor is to cats. The 2nd friend reported the same. I returned all three sets for the for Yeowww catnip toys. I couldn't even get them out of the box or packaging before my cats were meowing. One sniff and they were rolling around kicking and biting the toys. The other reason I say Amazon should stop selling is the packaging has misspellings and no indication of ingredients. If the company is using a chemical or essential oil to mimic scents, unlije dogs or most animals, Cats lack an enzyme (glucuronyl tranferase) that in other animals helps to process and break down certain components of these essential oils or chemicals. Of which over exposure can make them sick or in extreme cases be fatal. Be warned. Stay far away from this toy.

Cute little fishes!
Cute, cute, cute! Got these smaller toys for an anticipated new kitten as well as some of the larger "fish" toys for when he gets bigger. These satiny textured fishes ARE slightly padded, as opposed to the larger ones that had no padding at all. The print is surprisingly realistic looking. The smaller fish do NOT have a ready made opening in order to place fresh catnip in the cavity. No matter, I plan on putting the little fish in a baggie with fresh catnip as needed and refresing the scent that way. Not sure how well these will hold up to (anticipated) tougher play of kittens as these are currently only used by OLD kitty with few remaining teeth and much gentler play. But the fact that she plays at all again makes my day. I think these toys are best suited for cats that enjoy playing "fetch" by flinging it across the room. They have no scent of their own that I can discern.

Not the fish’s fault...
My cat ignores it and looks at me like I’m stupid when I try to get him to play with it. He’d rather sit in a box or eat a plastic bag. Or better yet, sit in a box AND eat a plastic bag. But my dog likes to play fetch with it so it’s not a total loss. Quality is good. Cat is obnoxious.

Something wrong with these!
These toys had an overpowering chemical smell to them. When we took them out of the bag and put them on the floor, the cats went running away in horror. I picked them up and nearly wretched at the odor myself. We tried airing them out for a couple of days but the smell persisted, so we chucked them in the garbage where they belong. Too bad because they are a nice size for smaller cats, but I would not place these near any living creature. It's just this brand; other plush fish toys we bought from other vendors have never smelled like that.

Quite Nice
I purchased these fish as a Christmas gift for a friend's new cat. They are a very outdoorsy and hunting-oriented couple, so this seemed perfect for their pet to have. They are a good size, much larger than the average cat toys on the market. The fish photos are quite realistic and they are plushy and filled well. There was a strange smell, but did not smell like catnip - more like chemicals.. Possibly from wherever they were made? That is the only reason for 4 stars.Overall, these are quite nice toys and 'Pretty Kitty' went crazy for them as soon as they were out of the plastic packaging.

Cute toys of good sized but do NOT smell like catnip
These do not smell like catnip but they are really realistic looking and the are of a good size for the cats to play with. Our cats occasionally play with them (attacking and kicking them) but do not rub on them and react the same way as toys that do actually have catnip. Of note, ours did not smell like anything at all. I see other review noting a chemical smell which we did not experience.

They do look like real fish though as the picture shows and were ...
My cat had interest in these for about ten minutes. I have my doubts about much catnip being used in them since he adores catnip and can never leave it alone but these held his focus for that ten minutes and hasn't at all since the day I got them. They do look like real fish though as the picture shows and were delivered quick and not so costly that my cat's disinterest made me feel I wasted a ton of money since I did not spend a ton of money.

One cat likes, one ignores. Don't seem to have catnip inside
Cute and good enough quality. One cat likes, one cat ignores. They don't seem to have much catnip in them. My cats go nuts over catnip toys and they aren't too enthusiastic about these. Thinking about cutting them open to add more to the inside. Then I think they'd be a hit!
