It matched up to the old one and the price was good. The lugs on it were bigger then the stock one so I needed to drill them out larger to make it fit.

Product was a good buy. Local price was 2.5 times higher. It was a bit of an issue to install due to location but that has nothing to do with the product.. Design engineer should have to work on everything before it is sold,mine was located behind the right tire. Doable but could have been placed in a lot of easier place. (John Deere)

Update May 2018: Well, I got less than 2 years out of this last solenoid but am just now replacing it. I still give five stars as I suspect there is an issue elsewhere in the machine. This time I am replacing all battery and starter cables with new high quality custom made marine-grade cables. I'm also running a dedicated ground from the battery directly to the started mounting bolt. This all may be overkill for an 18-year old riding mower, but I'm otherwise very happy with it. It's now starting like it was new! If this solenoid has a premature failure I'll be pretty unhappy and will update.Update April 2016: I'm now on my 2nd replacement :-( The original solenoid lasted from 2001 to late 2014. The first replacement lasted about a year. I cannot be sure if it the first replacement was poor quality, or if it was premature failure due to a bad battery/low voltage. Research seems to indicate low voltage will cause premature failure. I put the 2nd unit on in April 2016 and hope it will last many years.Original review 2014: Perfect fit for my Scotts by John Deere S1642 mower. HOWEVER, keep the nuts from your old solenoid as this one only comes with the ones pictured, which are not intended to be removed. You will need 2 nuts to lock the cables against the ones shown. This is not a product flaw, it's just the way these are supplied.Additional info: Polarity of the two small wires is not significant. Be sure to eliminate any poor electrical connections that can cause low voltage in the starting and battery system. e.g. I have one unit that is badly rusted where the ground strap connects to the frame.

I bought this to replace the solenoid that began intermittently malfunctioning. This allowed my zero turn mower to become reliable again. I was a perfect fit and seemed exactly like the one that was going bad.

Works great on mower. Just what I needed. Great value.

Fixed the click click on start up. Now the old John 🦌 fires right up! The mower lt 155 is about mid 1990s vintage. First part I had to put in it. Thought it was the battery last year <battery was 7 years old> then got the dreaded hard to start and it shut off once while running. This little gem fixed the issue. Expect about 20 or so minutes to get the old one out and this one installed. Make sure you disconnect the battery first!!!!

This was a direct replacement for my John Deere 135. Screw holes lined up to factory holes. Plug & play and now my mower starts up right away.

Works great and a very easy install.

Good except that the screw poles for the leads were too big, and a lot of adjustment was needed to make the connections. Not really compatible with the item it was supposed to replace, according to the website
