Do you habe to have a certain color bulb to get the glowing effect?

I have what they call a moon light and it’s a type of blue light that causes the green and yellow one to glow pretty good but not really the purple one. So I think you do need a certain color but they don’t say that anywhere.

What do they look like in regular lighting and can my fish get cauggt in the line

Well they certainly aren't as bright as advertised even with a blue night light. I don't use the string but let them bob around by themselves. I too was afraid my fish would get caught in the line. Unfortunately the water current deposits them all in the same corner.

If the tether is removed it just floats on top of tank
