WD 3TB Yellow My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBYFT0030BYL-WESN

So far so good, just came in the mail and I immediately put it to work transferring my massive photo and video collection off of my computer and onto this device...It was super easy, just plug into computer, drag files and done! My reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because it didn't have the most basic instructions...yeah I didn't end up needing them, but it would have been nice to have a little something telling the more techn impaired like myself how to get things done. Glad it worked without any effort on my part, transfer of 5000 jpg took only 7 minutes if that...My computer is back up to speed and I'm happy that my files are safe elsewhere. Great buy, I got the 3TB yellow-it's very sleek & cheery!

After a while the cord stopped working. If I was using it, I wouldn't be able to move around with my Macbook because it would unmount. I have no idea what happened to the cord because I purchased this last year around this time. Today I tried to plug it in multiple times and the message "Unplug the accessory using too much power to re-enable USB devices". I did some research and apparently the cord is the reason why it's saying this. I'm unable to retrieve my files because of this and I have no idea what to do. It was working perfectly fine until the cord started giving me issues a few months ago.

The media could not be loaded.  After shopping around for an HDD to transfer my important documents to while my computer reboots I've seen a lot of reviews about these products failing. No matter where I went there would be about 15% 1-star reviews at the very least, which worried me. Then I stopped worrying so much and just went for the product that gave me what I wanted with the color I wanted and everything seems to be working out just fine.The only issue I've found is that the USB is a bit flawed in that you can't just plug it in and expect it to work. You plug it in, and then it has to sit at an angle for the connection to go through. Honestly it was a bit jank, but it served its purpose well and my files seem to be perfectly fine after having been transferred from my computer to the drive and back after rebooting.These are only early impressions though

This is a terrible product! After one month it died! I don't think to be honest that it ever was working properly. I had to initialize it first to get it to be a back up for my Mac, and then it never would take a back up! I tried and tried to get it working, but then it started saying that the drive couldn't work, so I tried to use First Aid on it and it FAILED!

Got the yellow color. Had to re-format For Apple OS which was no problem. The USB-3 allows for fast data transfer. Used it now for 2 months and am a happy user.

Works but needed to work with tech support to operate

these drives are great for mobility and have a ton of room, easy to useWould recommend.

Much better than the Toshiba. Comes with NO software, so I downloaded a free one -- Toshiba's doesn't work anyways. Very quiet. Stable as expected from WD. highly recommended.
