Installed closer on door twixt laundry room and garage. Was pleasantly surprised to learn unit could be easily installed on the push (laundry room) or pull (garage) side of the door. Chose garage (pull) side and watched the detailed installation video. Easy one-person job. Works even better than I’d hoped. Pros: Commercial grade. Quality construction. Straightforward installation. Hardware included for installation on wooden or metal doors. Excellent how-to installation videos. Easy to adjust closure speed and latching force (separately). Quiet! Cons: Commercial grade (in a residential setting). Makes door feel a bit heavy. (We’ll get used to it!) No “hold open” feature.

So my downstairs neighbor (Slammy McGee) kept slamming the heavy foyer door late at night, and it would shake my whole apartment every time he did (literally sounded like a bomb was going off). I tried talking to him a few times about it, but it just wasn't sinking in. I looked up the best way to prevent someone from slamming a door, and an automatic door closer was the top recommendation online. This took about 20 minutes to install, and after I set it up, I tried six ways from Sunday to slam the door, and it literally makes it impossible to slam the door (closes whisper quiet even when trying to slam the door). It has adjustments for the speed at which it closes the first 90% of the door, and another adjustment for the last 10% of the door closing. It can be mounted on either side of a door, and comes with hardware to mount it to either the side or the underside of the door frame. This was an amazing replacement for the original expensive name brand piece that I replaced. A perfect color match too. Saved the company $100-150 by getting this one. Adjustments were easy to make to ADA guideline compliant on an outward opening right handed door closure for a retail space. Instructions were very thorough on every possible condition for mounting. Installation was a bit tricky, but not because of this closer; the space it was being mounted was shorter than what is required with the square bolts. Made it work by just boring out the frame where the unused nut was, the previous closer installer just sheared off the nut, but that caused friction on the frame. The mounting screws were not the best at self tapping, so always drill out the holes where it is going to be mounted, but it was completely secure after tightened down. We have a 3 yr lease at the location, so if it needs to be replaced during that time, I'll update.

Looks like a nice unit - especially for the price. It comes with a mounting template for each of the 3 ways that it can be installed. I guess it could be a little confusing, but I found it relatively easy to install, and I'm happy with it. I hope it lasts a long time, but if not, I'll come here and complain about it publicly!
