according to Blum website, you may need only one soft close if the door is small and lightweight. if you do use 2 soft close hinges per door, you can turn off the feature in one of the hinges if necessary for the proper effect.

Would a 25mm Forstner bit be appropriate or a 45mm?

the hinge cup should be drilled out to 35mm

when using a Kreg jig which setting do you use with this soft close hinge 38N to get a 1/2 in overlay

I had to use the 3 (3mm) setting with 18.5mm (23/32” or just under 3/4”) thick door stock, shaker style. 4 brought the outer door edge too close to the frame for comfort. Different cabinet door edge styles will vary- however for shaker styles with nearly no outer-edge routing taken away around the door border, 3 seems ideal. More classic frames with edges routed out may be okay at deeper distances like 4-6mm
