This rubber tape has all kinds of uses but is especially good for sealing electrical connections or splices. It's much more heavy duty than electrical tape but has the same insulating properties and can be stretched substantially with great self adhesion to itself. It's similar in properties to self-amalgamating silicone sealing tape except this tape is a polyethylene rubber. The peel off backing film can be a bit tricky to get started but once removed, it provides a mildly sticky surface on one side but the application of pressure is primarily what creates the bond. It can be stretched substantially without breaking and once the wrapping bond is made it is difficult to unwrap without cutting or destroying the tape. At $10.99 currently, it's much pricier than regular electrical tape but the thickness and properties of this tape make it much more versatile.

Standard electrical tape worked much better at a fraction of the cost

Thick, doesn't stretch well nor does it vulcanize well. Works ok but it is harder to use than softer types.
