Perfect for the 5th grade reading level and builds off of the first book read in class.

My daughter’s favorite Christmas gift! She read the first one and had been dying to get her hands on the rest of the series. She loves the dynamic between the two main characters and the quick paced plot keeps her engaged. My daughter hates chapter books, so you know it must be good! The set is so pretty and it arrived in perfect condition.

Good stories for kids and pre teens

This boxed set provides a thrilling and captivating journey. Before it's too late, two courageous individuals in the novel must race across a city that is experiencing devastating blackouts in order to discover its mysteries. I was captivated the entire time by their exploration of abandoned locations and the finding of an old message. The plot, which at times moves more slowly, yet offers emotional depth as it tackles themes of cooperation, conflict, and survival as it leaves the city. The prequel felt a little disjointed from the main plot, but the concluding sections neatly wrap up the trip. Overall, I give it four stars for its compelling characters, intriguing mysteries, and thought-provoking themes. Perfect for fans of dystopian fiction!

Great books for kids

I bought this set for my daughter because her teacher read the first one in class and she loved it. So far my daughter has not yet read the sequels, but I have. I loved the first three! They were fun to read, hard to put down, and tickle the imagination. The character development is very good, and the setting is well painted. The fourth book of the series, is actually a prequel. I'm having a hard time getting into it as much, I'm only half through that one though. The characters in the books are around 12, and books 1-3 are appropriate for younger kids (mine are 7 & 9), the 4th one is a tad more questionable in that department. Not inappropriate necessarily, just harder to relate with.

Everyone should read this riveting series.

I am reading this set of books to my granddaughter. It is an important set of books for our time when war and threats of nuclear weapon use are becoming more common. The two major characters are 11 year olds and they lead the way to finding solutions.
