Excellent reference book!

Amazing book, there are so many cartridges in it its unreal. Its unbelievable how many different ones have been developed over the years and seeing which were successful and which were not.

For cartridge collectors or just identifying the odd case you come across, this book cannot be beaten.Identification can be by measurements or headstamp designation & once identified each calibre has its own section giving history, best usage & some popular loadings.A book no keen shooter should be without

I had purchased a previous edition of COTW back in the 70s. Somehow I gave that edition away and was able to live without a copy. I finally decided to purchase this 13th edition of COTW. The current editor, Richard Mann has made this a comprehensive review of literally every cartridge in the world today. I was especially astounded by the expansive section on wildcat cartridges. Clearly I had failed to keep abreast of recent cartridge development . This is a fine volume for the armchair enthusiast. Each cartridge no matter how old or new is detailed with notes on development, historical background, current loads and problems if any. I found the section on current and obsolete European Sporting cartridges, a topic that is difficult to obtain information about, to be informative and thorough. I would gladly purchase the COTW again. I am amazed how I managed to do without it all these years.

It was just to have an updating of the former publication . Un fortunately there were no substantial updatings. According to me there could have been more upgradings.
