0 sustain. Very short like a trash !

can i hold this in my hand to play it or must it be mounted?

I haven’t used mine very much but I don’t think you could comfortably hold this in your hand to play it. It’s made to be solidly mounted to get the metal sheets to vibrate on one another to get the sound intended. I wouldn’t purchase it with the intention to be hand held.

Mad in Thailand. It's a cool accessories for special effect and it sound good.

What does the mount for it look like?

You can mount it to a cowbell mount or LP everything mount.
