This is an incredibly well designed, and highly functional architect task lamp with clamp or base mount, made by Phive - a company that not only creates their products with the philosophy of aesthetic functionality, but stands by their products with consummate customer service.The Phive LK-1 task lamp is the best lamp I've ever owned, and I most definitely have an obsession with lighting and lamps. It just works for what you might use it for, and has various light temperature and dimming settings. The flexibility of the lamp is great and highly adjustable. I have read some complaints about this lamp simply falling over because of loose screws, but as with anything that is used often and rigorously, one must maintain their tools. Besides it's necessary and nice to be able to adjust the tension of the lamps dynamic movement to one's taste.I purchased the clamp mount version for my home studio - in wanted to save valuable desk space - after reviewing the specs and appreciating the design. I can say with utmost sincerity that this is an amazing lamp, and has both form and function. I personally would recommend this to anyone looking to purchase a task/work lamp.When I recently had an issue with my clamp mount, I contacted Phive via email to see if they would be able to fix or exchange my clamp mount, and to my surprise my email was answered immediately by Emily from Phive. After explaining the issue, she promptly responded again and had the replacement part sent in the mail, which arrived in a couple of days...companies with amazing customer service make all the difference in the world. Phive is up there with the best from my experience.If you are thinking about purchasing a Phive lamp, but are having second thoughts about quality, craftsmanship, or customer service, you can rest assured that all of those criterion will meet, and you will be happy after unboxing your item. So yeah, it's one of those things that when you unbox and hold, you know you got something off high quality. I still admire mine from time to time.Highly recommended from me!!

This light is exactly what I had been looking for. I have an old style swing arm halogen light that I’ve had for over twenty years. That light still works and I just keep feeding it the 100 watt halogen bulbs.Due to a new hobby, I needed a new swing arm light but wanted LEDs not halogen. I wanted LED due to their long life, reduced power requirements, and operating temperature. When that halogen light is running wide open you can easily make a toasted cheese sandwich on top of it.I accidentally came across the PHIVE when searching for just a desk lamp. After reading some of the mixed reviews I hesitated ordering but finally ordered based on Amazon liberal return policy. The price on Amazon was also appealing.The light came well packed and comes in its own box with a carrying handle. It contained the light, a power brick, a hex wrench, two Allen wrenches, instructions, and a bench or desk clamp. Assembly is easy and took less than five minutes.The lamp controls are touch sensitive and only require a light touch. The ability to change brightness is useful to me and the color temperature change is an added feature that I might use later.I ordered the heavy metal base just to see how it would work. It works great as the light with the swing arm is very light and the base is very heavy. One word of caution about the heavy base. It comes in a flimsy box and it almost slipped out of that box when I was unpacking it. If it falls on your foot the results won’t be pretty.I’ve only had this for two weeks but I am going to give it five stars. It is exactly when I wanted and am considering buying another one!

Profound statement: this is the best, most beloved purchase I have ever made on Amazon. I love this light. I am a lighting freak, especially when it comes to my desk. I have been using it constantly for 1.5 months while studying for the bar exam. I am up late every night and this light solved my problem of needing direct light over my desk, without 1) the need to install a hardwired overhead light, or 2) needing to use a cheap desk lamp that only lights up a book or something.Everything about this lamp is superb and high quality. Period. There is nothing cheap about this thing; I was a little apprehensive since I had never heard of the company, and was worried this was a cheapo Ikea-like light, but I was so wrong. Everything about it is solid-feeling and the construction is so perfect that it reminds me of an Apple product -- attention to detail. The mechanical articulation of all the joints is very high quality. The dimmer is a MUST for me, as I sometimes need extremely low and barely-on light, and also very, very bright light that lights up my entire desk. This lamp does that. I also love the multiple light temperatures. I think there are 4 or 5, and I use them all depending on my mood.Overall, like I said, this is my favorite thing that I have ever bought on Amazon. My desk lighting is an intimate, obsessive part of my life, and this lamp is what I have been looking for for a long time. I have had zero issues with flickering, delays, or anything. I have had to tighten one of the articulation bolts once, but they include an allen wrench for that purpose. I frankly also love that I can adjust the joints to as tight or loose as I want them.If I HAD to critique something, it would be the box it comes in. It is kinda cheapo or generic-like for such a high quality item. I sincerely hope that this light holds up for the long run.
