The 'Alien 3' That Should've Remained
If you're like me at all, you love the first two 'Alien' movies, the 2nd one especially, and you especially hate 'Alien 3' for how it renders the story of 'Aliens' completely pointless and just flat-out rapes hard everything that was exciting and great about it. You might be understanding of the cult fanbase that defends the 3rd movie, but you personally can hardly watch 'Aliens' and enjoy it again because you can't not think of where everthing goes in the next movie, and you wish more than anything there was an alternate 'Alien 3' to help negate it. You found that hope in Neil Bloomkamp's planned 'Alien' movie, then had that hope squashed by Ridley Scott putting it on hold for his next Prometheus movie and due to both the director's and Sigourney Weaver's scheduling, but you still dearly want that alternate continuation to 'Aliens'.Look no further, for it is found in this very book! While Ripley is strangely absent, Hicks and a fully grown Newt are still alive, where they are later in life is fairly realistically depicted, and they undergo a brand new journey through space that involves Earth getting invaded by Xenomorphs, and said aliens have a new intriguing origin revealed contrary to what was in 'Prometheus'! Where it ends one can't help but get the sense there must be more to the story, and thankfully it was recently announced that Dark Horse would release a further continuation of these original comics, and I believe I heard with Ripley re-entering the picture! What are my nitpicks? The artwork is good for its time, don't get me wrong, but is still a sign of the time in that not all the characters are always distinguishable from each other. It probably would've been easier if it was in color, which I realize would've taken away the point of how it was originally presented. And different characters take over the narration every other page, it was a little hard to keep track of. All in all, I felt I had to read it a 2nd time in order to be clear on absolutely everything. But even with those minor complaints, it's still better than the alternative.People say that 'Alien 3' had rendered this comic non-cannonical, but I choose to see it the other way around. Dark Horse releasing this comic, this original 3rd Alien story, back to existence has successfully pushed that movie from my mind and I'm able to appreciate the great 'Aliens' once again. Until when/if Bloomkamp's movie ever happens (please still let it happen), I couldn't be more relieved and satisfied with this and thankful to Dark Horse!

A recollection of what would be the most terrifying comic after the birth of Giger's Alien
Following the movie in 1979 and Aliens subsequently in 1986, paving way for this horror comics to debut in Jan of 1988 as Newt, Hick, a Ripley close and a lot of Lies from the company to be discovered.Thai is the canon you wanted all along. News Tale, Earths Hive, Earths War and the vicious Engineer or Space Jockey who through Telekinesis communication with Newt gets coordinates to destroy earth but of course, who could forget our heroine Amanda Riple?! Oh yeah, here in this photo.Absolutely loving the book and excited that finally Vendor listened to the customers and wrapped the book instead to prevent smudges I suffered with a book a week prior to this.Arrived sealed which was a huge change and improvement compared to the Weyland-Yutani Report which I purchased and arrived as if someone rolled burgers on top of the covers. That This time amazon took in to consideration sealing the books to avoid this specific problem at the shipping warehouses. The boys is beautiful. Only a few bumps here and there but other than that, it's perfect.

High Quality here!!
Excellent re-presentation of the epic seminal 6 issue black and white miniseries. With some extras! The book is oversized... this makes it a pleasure to read and see all the detail Nelson puts into his art. If you are an ALIENS fan, you can't go wrong. This story is a sort of "sequel" to 1986's ALIENS movie. No Ripley, but Hicks and Newt are present. Subsequent movies didn't stick to the continuity of this series... but that won't detract from being able to enjoy this book. Highly recommended... a quality book from all creators and the designers of the publication. Bravo Dark Horse!

Prequel to Nightmare Asylum
This is a great side story to the Aliens movie, taking place in the same universe. It goes well with Nightmare Asylum. I have both paperback books too. My only complaint is that in this they used the characters Hicks and Nute as in the Aliens movie, instead of Wilks and Billy, as in the novels and Nightmare Asylum. This was a mistake as those characters as there was bound to be a sequel. That aside, as stand alone works they are a great read and well worth the money.

A book lover weighs in...
The cover and outside edges are exquisite. Black cover with a gilded sliver/black application to the end cut pages. It's really nice. Cover art is great. as well as the inner black and white artwork. The price is fitting for the quality and I have no complaints at all. If you love the Alien franchise, you'll like this story.

Pretty sweet book with a wicked binding and black pages
Black and white version of Outbreak. Aliens omnibus one and the Steve Perry novels. This one however uses the licensed characters of Hicks and Newt before all the licensing disputes. Pretty sweet book with a wicked binding and black pages. The ends of the pages are black as well. Great collector or showoff piece.
