May not be needed; may not work with some cases
I ordered this bracket when I ordered a Vertex 4 SSD, because I didn't realize that the Vertex package contained this exact same bracket. The Vertex 4 packaging even included 8 screws (4 for SSD to bracket, 4 for bracket to case) which the standalone bracket omitted for some reason. All 8 screws are metric, while almost every 3.5" drive I've seen uses 6-32 screws. If you bought this adapter by itself, you'll need to scrounge for 8 metric screws. This means that you'll need to get creative if your case has some unusual drive trays. For example, my Dell O960 uses plastic trays with unthreaded pins which pop into the drive's mounting holes. That brings up my next point - this adapter does not have the standard set of mounting holes that most hard drives have, so you may only be able to use 2 mounting points for the adapter instead of all four. Lastly, the drive's position in the adapter places the SATA connectors close to, but not in the exact same place as, a 3.5" hard drive's connectors. Again, if you're using a specialty case with either a backplane the drive is expected to plug into, or with tightly positioned cables, you may have to get creative.I'm going back to my previous solution - I buy broken or "refurbished" Velociraptor drives (HLFS version with 3.5" adapter) and remove the Velociraptor and mount the SSD in its place. Aside from being a much better fit in the case, it also looks good. Those old Velociraptor drives can be had for prices comparable to this adapter, if you're patient and look around. If you do this, make sure you get the HLFS version and not either of the others, as the HLFS version has the only adapter that matches a 3.5" drive perfectly.

Odd hole spacing
This adapter has a very simple job (hold a small device like an SSD). It does it. So in one regard that means the matter is pretty much settled. Then again, this also makes small faults a lot more consequential to it. In this particular case: The side holes seem to be very oddly placed. I was able to get two screws into each side, certainly, but they didn't really line up with my bay the way the other devices therein did. Someone with another hard drive bay might find it fits even more poorly or not at all. It also sits a little loosely as a result of this. It holds the SSD I put into it just fine, but it will rock/wiggle slightly in the bay if agitated. Not a big deal honestly, but for something with only one very simple job to do, flaws like this are a lot more noticeable.

It's An Adapter
It's a well made bent piece of metal that has holes for mounting in a 3.5" bay found in most desktop computer cases. This particular bent piece of metal has the OCZ branding and is coated in a very nice shiny black finish. If you have a case window it will not detract from the look of all your other cables and circuitry! One of the nicest features of this bent piece of metal is that the mounting area for the SSD drive has four holes which are raised as to keep you SSD from having a flush mount on the the surface of the bent piece of metal. I can assume that the engineer when designing this product took into consideration the thermal loads of SSD drives into account so that there would be maximum airflow under and over the drive. Very good product indeed!

Non-standard hole spacing
I bought this OCZ bracket to hold the Intel X25-M 160GB SSD I ordered separately, not realizing that Intel includes a bracket in the package. The OCZ bracket is small and aluminum compared to the larger (longer, deeper and heavier) steel Intel bracket. When I tried to use the OCZ bracket, though, I was puzzled to find that the mounting holes on the side of the bracket didn't match that of a 3.5" drive. My Antec P180 case doesn't use slide-in brackets for hard drives, so it didn't fit there. I wondered if it would fit cases where slide-in brackets were used, but when I compared the hole spacing to some spare brackets I had, it didn't match those either.Checking other review sites, I see that some people had the same issue I did, while others said that the bracket fit their case perfectly. You should check your own case before ordering. The holes in the OCZ bracket are at 3/4" and 2-3/8" from the first hole, closest to one end of the bracket.Needless to say, the Intel bracket had standard-spaced holes matching a 3.5" drive and worked for me. The OCZ bracket did not.

Don't listen to bad reviews on this!!!!!
I keep reading bad reviews on this product and it is user error or stupidity causing the issues, not the bracket! I own a Raidmax tool-less case for my build and I bought a 2.5" OCZ 120GB SSD for it. At first, it appeared as if the bracket wouldn't work with it, but upon widening the holes on the side of the bracket, it fit perfectly. The holes lined up fine after that and the plastic pins fit in there great; better to be too small than too big! Also, the case came with metal rails to accommodate 3.5" drives. The rails have little metal tabs that fit the screw holes in the side of SSD's and HDD's. The bracket forces you to mount the drive near one side, so you may have to snip the end off the rail tabs. Once done, it fits perfectly, giving you another option in case you are using a RAID configuration. I would and will buy this again in a heartbeat!

Decent Bracket, may need adjustment.
I bought after I had finished my build because my case (NZXT Gamma) didn't have a slot for a 2.5" drive, OCZ Agility 4, and I didn't want it dangling in my case. When I got it, the drive screwed right into the bracket with no problem. However, the screws on the rails I had for my case weren't large enough to accomodate the drive. So I took a power drill and a bit that was a little bit larger than the stock hole and drilled the 2 or 3 mm, I needed to have the rails fit. Knocked off a star because the holes weren't accommodating enough. It's easy enough to fix, but I'd think they'd be a bit more universal.

excellent if screw mounting holes match your case
I have three of these in three computers and haven't had the installation problems that others have had. The computer cases are Antec Twelve Hundred, Antec Six Hundred, and APEX TX-381-C. My one complaint is that the SSD mounts on the side rather than in the center of the bracket, so in some cases such as the Antec Twelve Hundred, care has to be taken that that long screws don't push into the SSD. Other than that, this is a well made little bracket for mounting your SSD in a 3.5" drive bay.

bueno
Necesario si quieres poner en un pc de sobremesa un disco SSD, a ver cuando hace un disco ssd de 3,5"
