ASTRO Gaming HDMI Adapter for PlayStation 5

I am a console gamer, with an Xbox One X, Series X and a Nintendo Switch, possibly getting a PS5 in the future to play those Sony IPs. Anyway, I have a Gen 3 Astro A50, a great headset that I have configured to play audio from my PC and Xbox One X at the same time. This allows for notification and any other audio from my PC to come across through the 'Voice" channel on my headset with the USB plugged directly into my PC. The optical audio is ran from my console to my base station.Then the Series X releases and NO OPTICAL AUDIO PORT?! I tried the aux-in option from my PC, but this adds a horrendous buzz in my ears, and the Xbox and Sony solution is to only allow USB audio, so this pretty much deems my set-up as a no-go.Enter this fantastic device. I added this into my extensive HDMI line, which runs from my consoles, through a switcher, to this device, to my PC for capture then finally to my monitor. Not only does it work perfectly for my previous setup, it works perfectly with the switcher as well. I have yet to try it with my Switch, but as soon as my upgraded HDMI switcher comes next week, I will update this review. I'm hoping this allows this ONE headset to work across three, or more, consoles AND my PC without having to switch any cables for the headset. I'm also going to add an Amazon Fire Stick to the switcher and test the audio capabilities through that as well.Update coming soon, with pictures and video!

I purchased this to fix a buzzing noise from using a 3.5mm aux cable from my monitor to my surround sound. It allowed me to run an optical straight from my ps5 to my surround sound. Not only did it fix the buzzing noise, but the sound is louder and clearer through my speakers. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to extract sound from ps5 using an optical cable

En lo personal en este año 2024 encontré una promoción de los astros A5 para PlayStation cinco en una buena oferta después de comprarlos no leí que necesitaba un adaptador el cual lo adquirí en Amazon antes de eso yo tenía simplemente los audífonos conectados por medio de USB a la parte trasera de la base de carga de mis astros a 50 Cuando llegó la caja todos lo seguí conforme tenía entendido el cable HDMI que iba directo del Play a la caja lo conecté correctamente donde está la única salida trasera que tiene Posteriormente conectador la corriente directo al PlayStation cinco por medio de USB después el cable óptico que salió de la caja lo puse la base de los audífonos y como era de esperarse tuve un problema el HDMI que conecte del monitor a la caja de los astros a 50 no me dio señal en mi monitor y tampoco me dio sonido en los astros entonces no pude solucionar el problema hay una mala organización de la compañía no me respondieron mensajes y estoy apunto de devolverlos es una decepción .

It does the job and gives the audio you need but it cannot go above 60hz even if you were to change the hdmi. It will not go to 120 hz

I had tried several different solutions to get a speaker to work with the PS5. I have the PS5 connected to a monitor not a TV and it was impossible to find a solution. I searched YouTube for a solution and found the Astro Gaming adapter. I was a bit skeptical since I had tried everything to make it work. I used a Yamaha Soundbar with the optical input and it works perfectly.

So Sony in their brilliant wisdom decided to get rid of the digital audio output. That means you don’t have an output to a mixamp. So if you’re using a head set like the Astro, or you’re using a mixamp like the Astro, to try and get PC and PS5 audio at the same time for streaming….well you’re gonna need this. It’s straight forward to hook up, you shouldn’t need a 20 minute YouTube video, but you are going to need it. If you’re buying a mixamp, just order this now so you don’t wait.
