How to Starve Cancer: ...and Then Kill It With Ferroptosis Review: MUST HAVE - This is an absolutely fantastic book, and I gave it 5 stars, even though it has some caveats. It is a real page turner, thanks to the author's prodigious writing talents, and she stays on point 98% of the time, offering pearls of advice and information on killing cancer, even though it relates her personal story. The main caveat is that, even though the first 300 pages are an easy read and utterly engaging, dispensing vital information throughout, at the same time, the last 100 pages suddenly become exponentially more technical, and somewhat difficult to decipher, at first. You may want to read some sections here more than once to get it clear. Secondly, it becomes so technical regarding "fine tuning" your program, which requires your own research ( she offers basic guidance how to do it) and diagnostic tests which only a trained physician would know what to utilize, such that, ultimately, you will need to seek out a holistic MD/oncologist focused on cancer. But, she does, to her credit offer an exhaustive list of medical references. Another minor complaint is that there are a huge number of "broad spectrum", completely natural nutraceuticals such as modified citrus pectin, fermented wheat germ, saffron, resveratrol etc, etc which are invaluable in killing both cancer stem cells and fast dividing daughter cells which she ignores. Also. she relies exclusively on off-label drugs such as statins, which she vociferously defends, stating that they have received a "bad rap, and that their serious side effects take a year to manifest whereas she employs it only short term, but she brings no reference to support her claim. All in all, these criticisms are relatively minor, and this is an indispensable reference book to have. I would suggest to anyone interested in the subject to subscribe to Dr. Ralph Moss's website which is truly exhaustive and offers invaluable information which will broaden your horizons and offer additional, crucial strategies (I get no commission!) Review: I hope this book catalyzes changes in oncology care - I have bought and read countless books and articles on cancer treatment since my sister was diagnosed 4 years ago with ovarian cancer, and this one stands alone in its usefulness with strategies to really turn the oncology world on its collective ear. All practitioners, whether allopathic or naturopathic and every approach in between, can offer real benefit to their patients if they will use the information that Jane has exhaustively dug up and shared in this book. My sister has had several go rounds with chemo, was in a clinical trial that probably wasn't of benefit, gets weekly Mistletoe and IV Vitamin C, and she started the Care Oncology Clinic (COC) protocol in February 2018. She hasn't achieved remission in several years, but her cancer has mostly been stable (up until this past PET scan) and her oncologist has called her his miracle patient on more than one occasion - this since starting the COC protocol, which helps the chemo. She stayed on that chemo regimen (Taxol) for 15 months. Now that it has apparently stopped working, we are working on a new strategy. This with her Naturopathic Doctor and her oncologist. The good news is, even though her cancer has grown, it is happening slowly and her quality of life is good. We definitely attribute her entire regimen to this, as we often hear of cancers exploding once they evade treatment. The gist is that there are many drugs designed for other purposes that incidentally kill cancer, most of them well known and studied, and safety profiles are well established. The COC protocol includes 4 of those drugs, but Jane presents many more options beyond those 4, and details the ones that saved her life, and describes how she came to find these drugs. She also used quite a few supplements, and she explains these as well. Her journey happened before the days of widespread internet use - she didn't have the luxury of just "Googling" for answers. Her success was no trivial accident and her tenacity in digging for information is truly amazing. The fact that she put her journey and her findings into a book for the world to learn from is a blessing, as is the fact that she is still actively involved and still digging for more answers. Jane's story of surviving stage IV cancer twice is inspirational, but more than that, she lays out in her book a map of sorts to help the reader create a regimen that attacks cancer metabolically from all pathways. It's definitely a work in progress - there is a Facebook group created to work on the puzzle as a community, and so much more is becoming known about repurposing drugs to attack cancer. I have already given a copy of this book to my sister's oncologist, who is surprisingly receptive to it, and her Naturopath already read it and is incorporating some of it into her treatment. The cocktail is still evolving, and this book is a big part of the foundation from which we are working to attack her cancer.

This book is very important for all cancer patients and their families! Read the second part of the book first, to learn about the recepies, intermittent fasting, and exercise. Then read the first part to learn how the author suffered, came to the insights presented in the book, and healed herself. I follow the advices as much as I can and my CT scans show a major improvement, as both my cancer and the metastasis shrank in size by more than 50% in 6 weeks! In short: 1. no sugar, sweets, bread, rice, potatoes, noodles (this is hard, but stubborn=disciplined patients can do it), 2. intermittent fasting for 12, 16, and 24 hours and then for 3 days, drinking a lot of green tea and water, but no more coffee!, and 3. mild and frequent exercise, such as long walks (preferably nordic walking), rowing, and biking, if possible right after meals.

I really can't recommend this book enough, it's one of the best books for anyone wanting to know more about cancer & anyone wanting to take control of their cancer. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Coloretal Cancer in late Dec-2017 & found Jane's FB page when doing my own research. Her FB page is full of great information, clinical studies, personal stories, & a great community with lots of really helpful support. Jane has now released her much anticipated book, telling her story in great detail of how she beat cancer, using a unique blend of both Traditional & Alternative medicines, & combining a group of cheap Off-label medications, that have clinical studies showing their benefits beating cancer. I've started taking several of the medications mentioned, 3 months ago, & I'm now showing exceptional reduction in all my tumors!!! This book is Honest, Heartbreaking, Empowering, & packed full of very helpful & detailed info for anyone dealing with Cancer.

I think every cancer pacient, their doctors and love ones needs to read it and take control of their lives. Medicine needs to change the approach and it is our responsability to achieve it

No wonder this book won many prizes, among which a gold award and 'best cancer book' award. I spent many many hours reading about cancer and how to shrink tumors or even heal. This book has the best method imo. It is very comprehensive. It brings many methods and theories together and explains why sometimes results are contradictory and confusing. For example: some people have great success with a keto diet causing remission, yet others don't or they have success and then a huge rebound. That's because not all cancers use glycolysis for energy and many cancers can switch to another fuel source when deprived of their main one for a long time. Best is to block multiple fuel sources with diet, supplements and off label meds. Also intravenous vit.C for example only works when done the right way. The book helps you tailor your approach to your specific cancer type and even better: your specific manifestation of it. The hardest part is likely to get doctors to do certain tests at your request or to prescribe off label meds. On the How to starve cancer website there is a list with some doctors who are on board with the protocol. The Oncology Care Clinic uses a protocol that’s very similar, so they can be consulted too. All in all, this is the best book on the subject, it's empowering and gives hope. You do need to have a certain level of understanding, it can be quite complex, and my background in Nutrition & dietetics certainly helped me. You will need to google many things, either to understand, to find out the metabolic phenotype of your cancer for example, or to look up dosages of supplements (she mostly does not recommend dosages) and their contra-indications and possible interactions etc. I like the website Orthokennis for this. It's Dutch, but you can right-click and 'translate to...'
