I want to know the depth (dimensions NOT given for those who say they are) so I know the width added to the gate when in use

The depth would be 1cm roughly - the overall size is about 1.5cm but the circle of the stair gate is to fit inside so would make it about 1cm - I am having to return as I have a safety 1st stair gate and they do not fit inside - the hole is 3.5cm - hope this helps!

Do you have to secure the wall saver to the wall with a screw?

Instead of screws, the wall saver is easy to install with 3M-VHB tapes.

Might sound a daft question, but do they go on long ways or across?

Probably doesn't affect the use of the gate which way you place them, more likely the location of the gate will dictate which way you place them. On a door frame you'll only have space to place them vertically.

Do these fit a Lindam easy fit deluxe safety gate please?

I don’t know but they do fit a Lindam Sure Shut Axis Safety Gate
