AIMS PowerREMOTELF Remote Switch with LCD Monitoring Screen

Flip up to fully power on. Flip down to put in standby mode. Comes with long cable. Screen is bright blue and gives battery voltage reading and degree of charge. Also gives percent load. For example, if you have a 4kw inverter and the screen reads 50% output, then you are using 2kw of the total 4kw. Also displays input voltage and output voltage if you are hooked up to shore power or a generator. The screen light will turn off after 15-20 seconds and you have to press a button to turn it back on. This is to conserve power.

This is a little expensive for what you get and am a little concerned because some people have had problems with them. So far so good.

This controls a 2500w inverter in an external cabinet in my Class A motorhome. I had to have some sort of switch and status panel and I thought that having the display would be great. Like other reviewers have said, it is hard to read and the timer is too short. the thing only draws 1/2A at 12v. Just leave the dang thing on for a few minutes for Pete's sake. Sometimes it take's me 30 seconds just to read it.I wish I had just bought the simple ugly blue one for $30 and spent the money on a decent shunt. That would be more informative for a lithium battery, would have provided much more information and I could actually read it.It is nice to see battery voltage, but the capacity level doesn't work with my Lithium battery, so that is useless. It basically says 3/4 full the whole time. Basically all I get out of this is the status (shore power/inverter), battery and AC voltage and output percentage (you have to do some head math to know your watt output). How about Watt output, inverter temp and other important information? It would be great If I could program in a power profile to get a better battery voltage. At least give me a choice for a standard LiFePo battery.Despite the lack of really useful information (which I think could be made available), I probably wouldn't gripe if the screen was simply more readable and stayed on longer. In black I like it better than the blue basic one, so that it good, too.

This remote does what it is supposed to do... let you see the status of the battery and inverter remotely. Mine is mounted in the drywall of my kitchen and let's me control and monitor the inverter that's in the basement.Great. Now the bad... well not bad, just not polished..... the display glitches every once in awhile when displaying the graphics. It's likely a refresh the screen and CPU interrupt issue, no cause for alarm... it just screws up the battery or bar graph icon for a fraction of a second every so often. The voltmeter and frequency meter aren't very accurate and sometimes the input reads different than the output when on AC power. Other reviewers have mentioned the backlight button. You have to press it for about 3 seconds and the display will light up for 30 seconds which is plenty.For what it's worth, the cable is a straight thru RJ45, so any CAT 5 cable will work. Some workers around my house severed the supplied cable and I replaced it with a 50' cat 5. Works great. They probably should tell you this in the instruction manual.If you just want to remotely turn on the inverter and don't care about the display functionality, you can simply install a switch on the RJ45 jack. 3-5 turns inverter on, 5-7 turns on with power saver mode.NOTE: the inverter's power save mode is practically useless since it only triggers with a resistive (heater) load, not a motor. I had wanted the inverter to run in power saver until, for example, my fridge came on. So the work around I can see is using a battery powered timer tied to the remote pins 3 and 5 to turn the inverter on every so often. The idle current on the inverter is kinda high, so you end up using 35-40% of your batteries just to idle the inverter all day. The best solution is this remote panel and simply turning it on or off as needed manually.The remote panel is a great idea and the only one that'll work with the aims inverters but it sure could have used a little more spit and polish.

The product is performing very well, as advertised, at 75% to 85% of load on a 12V Photovoltaic and Wind back-up system with a 2000 Amp-hour Open Lead Acid battery bank. I recommend using #6 AWG THHN cable for both the AC input and output (Not #8 as suggested in the user manual).

First, I absolutely love my AIMES inverter. It's a great product. So good that I thought this informative switch with display would be just as good. Basically it's a $150 switch when you can buy just the switch for $30.The display went out within a week or so but I didn't care much because it doesn't really display anything anyway. I called AIMES to get a replacement and they wanted me to jump through hoops. Pay return shipping, let them diagnose and test it (hinted not for free), prove where I bought it etc. I bought it here and this happened within a month. Get over yourself AIMES. Take this junk off the market and just sell the switch or drastically improve your product and customer service!
