Operation Valkyrie: The Plot to Kill Hitler

Learning more about a man who followed Hitler without much thought until he suffered harm not only to himself but saw it committed so much more widely than he thought possible. He thought he could be able to atop things before it could and did get worse

I bought this because I saw the documentary on Public Television. It is incredibly well done, showing the background and history of the Stauffenberg plot to kill Hitler. The two hours of bonus features are of great interest and add greatly to this DVD. It would be an important addition to the DVD library of anyone who is interested in the many plots to eliminate Hitler and free Germany and the world of his consumate madness and the evil which he personified and perpetrated. It is of supreme inportance that the world NEVER, EVER FORGET WHAT HITLER STOOD FOR AND DID TO INNOCENT PEOPLE.

The plot to kill Hitler by a top aide, Von Sauffenberg is well known to historians, but in light of the recent release of Tom Cruise's movie on the subject, there is new interest in the subject. This documentary not only gives a graphic and detailed account of the Von Sauffenberg plot, but lays the historical groundwork for the decision to undertake the assasination attempt. In addition, this documentary discusses the many other plots to kill Hitler, some by his own top officers. This documentary makes use of interviews with those close to the Von Stauffenberg attempt, including at least one surviving conspirator, and Von Sauffenber's wife. A second disc conatins other side material which displays nothing more than a re-hash of well known footage, such as Hitler's home movies and is of little interest to the serious historian, but the main disc is quite worthwhile for anyone interested in an in depth look at this famous plot.

Ok documentary. Cheesy computer graphics. We only liked it because the hero tried to blow up Hitler.

If you like the Tom Cruse movie, you will like this documentary. Stauffenberg was a true hero, doing what he did or try to do in the face of all this evil. It is a great thing these people have been shown to the public & made them aware of their efforts to end the horrors displayed by Hitler & his minions. Highly recomend this DVD.

Based on excellent research. Watch this before you watch the movie Valkyrie, it helps fill in the blanks.

Very good and comprehensive look into the July 20th, 1944 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. It also goes into the various scenarios and the "what ifs" had the plot succeeded. A great find for the history buff.

This was an interesting documentary. I had always been curious about Operation Valkyrie but never really knew about it. This definitely gives a better insight into what was going on. I would have liked to see a more indepth piece, though.
