This product is great. I use it on a beefy 12 ft rod with braid for crab snaring. I was looking for something to save my finger because i even with the finger sleeve, i was still feeling a lot of pressure on my index finger when I casted my crab snares. Unfortunately, what happened to me was user error...I was using it for a few hours but something happened and it came off mid cast (was throwing an 8oz crab snare), the braided line caught my finger and sliced me real good... the cast cannon also dropped into the water. My guess is that it was user error and the product itself didn't fail so make sure you tie it on real good with a zip tie. I would still 100% as long as you tie it on securely, my guess is that mine was still loose. It's great to save your finger as long as you don't do what I did haha.I reached out to the sellers and they sent me a replacement + bonus glow in the dark one.

When you go for slinging heavy weight in long bomb casts past the surf or out into river channels, you'll find that braid can cut you as you try to hang on to it with a finger. Instead of dealing with a glove which you can misplace, this is installed on the rod. This will free you from the fear of the braid cut and let you torque power cast to your savage delight. Use responsibly.

These casting aids give me the confidence to really put the power into casting braid long distance without worrying about braid cuts in my finger! Watch u-tube videos on the placement and see wich one suits you best. The downside is after a week of hard surf fishing I noticed slight surface rust at the pin and the release lever. I rinsed everything off every day with fresh water. So I'm guessing its a very low grade of stainless steel. But overall its a good product and would recommend!

This is awesome! This makes a huge difference in my casting. I throw between 4 and 6 oz weights on 12 to 15 foot rods and that is a lot of pressure to have your braided line cutting in to your finger. Whit this trigger, I don't have to second guess myself. I can just throw hard and get the big cast!The body is plastic, while the loop and head are steel. You will need zip ties, hose clamps, or heavy tape to install it. I suggest you put it just above the reel. Make sure your bail cannot hit it when open or closed.

I was extremely optimistic this would be a game changer. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. Most attempts, the line slipped before I could even start surfcasting regardless of the weight I was using. I primarily toss 3, 4 & 5 oz weights with kingfish/spot rigs. Penn 7500 series reel with a 12’ surf rod and 30lb braid. You may have better luck. I gave up and went back to using my index finger instead of the trigger and was able to cast much farther.

I was skeptical when i saw this in the past but I decided to give it a try. I was used to just light weight gear for bass or other inland fishing. With this, I can use significantly more weight for long casts into the surf without tearing up my fingers from making multiple casts with wet hands.

Very easy to use and it helps cast smoother and further. I just taped on with electrical tape to secure on pole.

This is a must when beachcasting with a fixed spool reel. Absolutely transformed my casting and distance I get. No need to worry about sore fingers with this.

Took some trial and error to set up but well worth it. Been fishing the beach for decades and this little unit works as intended

Would love to use but cannot be installed near enough to the real on my Ultimate extreme beach rods. The reel housing screws down onto the reel to keep it in place, and stops one of these being possible to use.
