A good quality iron.
Great iron with terrific features. Good weight and size. Heats up quickly. Automatic shut-off is perfect for an absent minded old man like myself. I can iron clothes in half the time it took me with my old iron. Steam function excellent. And I love the retractable cord.

Outstanding customer service
For all intents and purposes, an iron is an iron. However, what I like about this iron is the stainless steel baseplate and the retractable power cord. The first iron I received was unusable because when the power cord was pulled out of the iron it would not remain extended as the retract mechanism was faulty. Instead of returning this iron to Amazon, I decided to call the manufacturer, Mueller, to see how they could help. After verifying my purchase they immediately, and with no other questions asked, issued another brand new iron to be shipped to me and further informed me that I did NOT even have to return the defective iron. I received the new iron in just 3 days and this replacement works just fine.Even though the first iron was defective the reason I gave this purchase 5 stars is due to Mueller's superb customer service. Nobody or company is perfect and to me the correct measure of industrial quality and responsibility is how a company responds to a fault on their part. Mueller's customer service could not have been more responsible or professional and so they easily earned my 5 star rating.

Decent Item
The vertical steamer options does not work the iron I received. The sprayer option took a while to kick in. I tried priming it several times. It eventually started working when the green light came on however the vertical steamer option still did not work. The iron doesn't get as hot as my previous iron even the output wattage is the same.

Really shines in the design
I won't lie, the size and feel took a little getting used to (see pick for comparison to a standard iron), but that's not a bad thing. It just felt different than what we're used to. Performance was just what you'd want it to be -- heated up fast, took the wrinkles out. One thing that gave me pause was the fact the soleplate is wrapped metal (see pick) as opposed to single-material solid plate like previous irons we've owned. Again, not saying it's a drawback, because it works just fine. But the Austrian/German engineering is where this this iron impresses (no pun intended). Lots of cool features, particularly the cord that retracts at the push of the button. The automatic shut off and vertical steam blast (and built in sprayer) are also nice touches that seem to work really well so far.One of the biggest selling points for us, tho, is the hard water filter. We usually get lots of calcium chunks working their way through our irons, but this one is designed to guard against that. Haven't had it long enough to see how well it works, but so far so good!(FYI, we've also got a Mueller k-cup type coffee maker that we've also come to love. Small but mighty. Amazing bang for our buck as, like the iron, out-performs pricier models. So thumbs up so far on the company in general.)

The best iron I've ever had.
Used twice since just receiving it. Love it so far. I like the steam trigger placement and ease of use when an extra blast is needed. Not too heavy but right amount of weight to make the ironing go quickly. It glides easily over all of the different fabrics. It was a breeze ironing my linens. They look great. Wrinkles are natural with linen when wearing and I live in hot Arizona where I welcome that fabric. But I still like starting out wrinkle free linen. I always look for the amount of steam holes and placement along with the stainless sole plate. This iron pointed front end reaches the difficult areas on some pieces. And a feature I go for whenever possible is the retractable cord. Ease of storage in my holder. The fabric selector dial is great. The auto shut off in different positions is appreciated. Can't wait to steam my drapes. I do think the blue tank makes it a bit difficult to see water fill level. But that's minor compared to all the other plusses. I just held it up to the light. Suggest making the color a little lighter when going for aesthetics. Pricing is appropriate. I'd recommend this highly. If that changes I'll update.

Stick w/ a Brand You Already Know
Like many who posted, I have been sewing/quilting for many years. I've worn out two Black N Decker irons, one Hamilton Beach iron and 2 ironing boards. I was looking for something similar to my most recent iron; B n D, from Walmart, maybe with a few extra perks. I thought I had found it in this Mueller iron. I did not.To start, the box arrived in a damaged plastic shipping bag. The box was also damaged , but there was no damage to the iron. The "New" sticker proclaimed as such. Everything was wrapped and the sole plate had a protective cover. The small icons on the iron are difficult to see., even with magnifying glasses. The steam setting dial is a slide switch that is very inconsistent. There is no "off" for the iron, unless it is unplugged. And as one reviewer said, this iron is "big boy." The power cord recoils into the base, which helps make it large and heavy. Even with reader glasses the temperature dial is difficult to see; the pointer is nearly invisible. The iron also beeps much more than I expected. Once it reaches desired temp, it sounds like a fuse popping. Very startling. (That is what I hope it was doing...indicating ready)The water tank is large, but hard to read the level. Included was a small pitcher to fill/refill, but I had to hold the iron nearly horizontal to fill . Ugh.I found that there is a burst of steam when lifting the iron from what is being ironed. As if it is vertically steamed, I don't need to steam the air.I did like that there is a narrower tip on the sole plate, made it easier to reach tight corners. Not loving, or even liking this iron.Unfortunately, I missed the return window; and the box is gone, and now I am stuck with it.It's going to make a great gift for someone; I'm going back to Black N Decker.
