"Delivered Out of the Depths of Hell"
Lady Annavieve was saved by Sir Kevin from selfish barbaric husband, and King Edward's money hungry schemes. Thank goodness the times of women only mattering for the son's they could produced are over.Sir Kevin saved Annavieve and Annavieve healed Kevin. That both had a strong purpose in one another's lives, and beyond what others had planned for them. They were free to live with and for each other.I spent the whole story trying to predict what was going to happen from one turn to next, and I was outsmarted every time. That was refreshing and unpredictable. I didn't like the situation with Mimsi and I wish that she could have been allowed to hold her grandchildren.I was disappointed that the epilogue and the ending were somewhat rushed. There was a connection with the characters and then for the author to switch up and just tell us what happened so everyone could live happily ever after, I felt cheated. I would have liked a couple more chapters where we see their happy ending played out, not stated. As always though you definitely must read this story.

Love found.
Kevin Hage is broken hearted by the love of his life, she has married another. He gets as far away as he can and builds a wall around that broken heart, with his friends Sir Adonis de Norville and Sir Thomas de Wolfe he heads to the Levant, and there he becomes “The Scorpion” After 6 years fighting alongside the Templers and Hospitallers as a hired assassin, Kevin is a man feared by all, as he strikes fast and death always follows. Tired of being in the heat and sand they long for the green hills of England and their families, they decide to go home, once there they find themselves at a tavern were Kevin gets into a fight and accidently kills a man whose death will have a huge effect on his life. I love all of Kathryn Le Veques books and you get so involved with some of the wonderful characters she greats. This is a story of love lost and love found, the beautiful Annavieve helps break down that wall and a love for all time comes to be, but not before a lot of things and events are thrown in their path. The story has grief from the loss of a parent, a couple of villains’ one a murderer and the other the Kings cousin who is ordered to marry Annavieve, a more hateful person I couldn’t imagine. Do they get their happy ever after, well yes but not until a lot of twists and turns are thrown in their path. Well that’s all I will say about the book I don’t want to be a spoiler and give away too much of the story, I know you will enjoy this book and the wonderful characters within, some of which you will recognize from some of Kathryn’s other books. I highly recommend all of them to you so happy reading.

3.5 STARS. MY LEAST FAVORITE OF THE SERIES SO FAR!
All through reading this I kept trying to figure out what was keeping me from loving this story? I never felt a connection to the H/h. The reason they came together was awful. The King told her if she ever needed him to let him know, but she never thought on it.I liked Kevin in the previous story, but he became hard and uncaring. The son's from Paris and The Wolfe join him for 6 years to fight in the Holy Land. It was nice to catch up with the son's from the heros in book one and two.Yes, there is lovemaking, somewhat descriptive but not as passionate as in her other books. We do get a HEA, but since I wasn't drawn to the character's, it was ok. I couldn't get over Kevin never went home when he returned to England, he sends his mother a note, another reason I didn't care for him.As in KLV books, several die and I won't explain who, but some deserved it.There is suspense at times, some twists, some intrigue, but this wasn't a favorite of mine. I won't go into the premise because it has been told by other's. I don't think it is worth $3.99 though. Sometimes, this author does bundles, so hold out for that or a price drop.If i wasn't use to her novels, how great she usually writes, I may have rated it higher. She is a great story teller and I highly recommend the two books prior to this one. I think the Dark Destroyer is still my favorite. (ljb)

Where can I find more stars?
This is a terrific story! I just want to know where I can find more stars for a review, as it does not seem as if five are enough. Sir Kevin Hage was a chivalrous character in "Serpent" who lost the love of the woman of his dreams to another knight. In his disappointment he left England with his two best friends, also formidable knights, to go fight in the crusades. This is finally his story. Hage returns to England six years later, and is caught up in a maelstrom of intrigue and danger in his new assignment as a knight to King Edward's cousin, the duke. It is here that Hage meets the twisted duke's beautiful but unwanted wife, Annavieve, and the tale begins. The plot is provocative, the characters are appealing, and the story kept me reading late into the early morning hours- I couldn't put it down!I truly enjoyed this book, it was fantastic, and highly recommend it to lovers of historical fiction, romance, Kathryn LeVeque, or anyone who enjoys reading a rollicking good story!

I Loved Every Page
Sir Kevin Hage has been a mercenary in the Levant for the last six years, but recently he and his friends decided it was past time to go home. He has a reputation as a deadly killer and is called the Scorpion. No sooner do they land in Dover when the trouble really starts. The King has heard about him and will decide what happens.Annavieve has been raised in a convent. Sent there by a King who wants all traces of Welsh royalty whiped away. Now he's pulled her out of the convent to make use of her. This is a very exciting story full of battles and danger. Our huge hero has more honour than his new boss ever had. The situation looks to be impossible. There are lots of secrets being kept, some far too dangerous to be told.Fantastic characters and a wonderful story line.I loved every page.

This is a wonderfully emotional love story
Kevin Hage returns from six years in the Levant with his closest friends Adonis de Norville and Thomas de Wolfe. Nursing a broken heart, which is why he left England, he has now become England's best known killer and assassin, his deadly strike has caused him to be known as The Scorpion. Now he has been gifted to the Duke of Dorset, as despicably spiteful, vile and cruel man, who puts Kevin in a most dreadful position, after the Duke is forced to marry the beautiful Annavieve by the king. But love grows in the strangest of circumstances and as their love affair begins, this wonderfully emotional and gentle love story grows...Kathryn Le Veque is a wizard with words and she carefully and cleverly engulfs you into the middle of this love/hate story, which will immediately pull at your heart strings, with the passion and emotion making your heart ache.Annavieve is from royal Welsh extract, taken away from her mother by the King and imprisoned into Sempringham Convent, where she has been alone all her life, without knoledge of the outside world, without happiness and love. That is until she and Kevin come together. As the book progesses and Kevin and Annavieve fall more and more in love, stumbling blocks occur in every chapter, pushing their happy ending further and further away.Kathryn Le Veque always brings this medieval time to life, explaining honour, rules of marriage, and behaviour in those times with her vividly descriptive writing.I loved this book right up until the very last page. A fabulous read with wonderful characters.

Another magical story from Kathryn leVeque. just like the previous book I wonder where she gets her ideas to be able to write so many different but delightful stories.something for everyone. I thought she'd never beat Shadow Wolfe, which I read prior to this but she has made this one just as good, as interesting. I found myself unable to resist 'just one more chapter,' even late into the night. The characters she creates such as the evil Lord Dorset. What a dreadful man, but his wife found strength eventually to fight back. Now for the next deWolfe story. Thank you Kathryn.

I love Kathryn Le Veque
I love Kathryn Le Veque. This book in the beginning was up to her usual standard and had me enthralled. I lived the excitement, the highs, the lows. BUT then the end was a disappointment. I wanted to experience the end with them, to read about them coming together to read about the feelings now it was possible to be together, after the horrible events at the end. To read a few page epilogue summing up how they came to have a happy ending with no interaction from the hero or heroine was a huge disappointment.

A good read
I really enjoyed this book. There were lots of twists and turns for Kevin and Anna, the main story characters, but after everything that there had endured and gone through, I felt as though the ending was very rushed and abrupt. Therefore I feel it was a great read until the end which was a little disappointing.
